Hello, we're taking a trip to Moab and since we'll be more remote, a spare tire is probably a good idea. However, i know the front and rear tires are different widths. Because of price, if I only get one spare, which should i get? Can a narrow front tire fit on the rear in emergency? Or can a fat rear tire fit on the front in emergency?

For a spare use an extra front wheel. The front can be used on the rear but you cant use a rear on the front. Get a good patch kit and some bottles of a slime type product. Carry a small air conpressor to re-inflate.. takes lots of pics for us to see

keep yer eye on Craig's List in your area. I scored a set of yamaha grizzly wheels with same 4/110 bolt pattern, same offset, and nearly new tires same size as the 450i takes, all for $150. I'm looking for a spare set of 14" wheels, but don't want anything fancy. I put a lot of street miles on and want to get a set of car tires that will last more than 500 miles on pavement
I wooldn't mind another set of 12" wheels as well my winter chains are pretty much permanently mounted on one set, along with street tires, I'd like 2 different types of terrain tires

Those were a good buy, in my area take off wheels and tires go for high dollars. I have been keeping my eyes open for some time for a spare set of wheels and tires so I would have a spare as well.

Thanks everyone.
Would a different width tire on the rear cause any problems with the differential?

Width doesnt matter but diameter does! Just found a spare tire mount that fits the 2" hitch reciever....looks like a great idea!

While the subject is up, will I have any problems putting 26x11R12 on the rear and 26x9R12 on the front of my 2015 450i stock wheels?
Any drive train or suspension problems gonna crop up?
(Stock size is 25x10-12 rear and 25x8-12 front)
Edit: found the answer by airshot in an earlier post.

The larger dia will be fine but here you are looking at a wider tire! You would need to check clearance on the wider tires or find someone that has tried that width.
