looking to repaint scoot this winter was thinking army green or should I stay blue or go
some other color.give me some ideas please.
-
realy like this but not 100 % sure
-
Can you show a picture of your scooter. Maby that will help us.
-
this is it right now.
-
This is going to sound kind of strange... but picture this... flat desert yellow (like the military unit color) mixed with high contrast flat black. If you like the army green at least, might want to consider it.
-
I like mattee black color.
-
Army green is good. I don't think I've ever seen one in army green, then again, I don't see many scooters at all around where I am. Just a few here and there. If there aren't many that color where you are folks will start to recognize you by your scooter. Like when PT Cruiser cars first came out, it took about a year or so before they started popping up here, but not many people have them. And I know who drives the yellow one and who drives the maroon one because they aren't common here in town. I suppose that could be good or bad, if you want to stand out or blend in. I always thought I would hate that bright kawasaki green until I saw a Super 8 in that color up close at the dealer the other day and I thought, well, that's not half bad. Mine came in blue because that is what I could find and afford, but if I could paint it any color I wanted, I would probably either go to Google Images and type in the brand name and look at each color that popped up then open a picture of one in a photo editing program and play with the hue and saturation and such and see which color really caught my eye. Army green looks pretty good, I don't think I would go much darker green than that, though.
-
This is the best I can do with the short amount of time. Have a look and let me know what you think.
-
not bad im thinking of adding more paint like down on the sides wear some of the black is at.
-
maybe like this.
-

Sure you can... best part is the software is 100% free to use and free to change complete with source code. The software is extremely powerful and can be overwhelming at first. Go to http://www.gimp.org (http://www.gimp.org) and there's a download for Windows/Mac and instructions on how to get it for your Linux based operating system. Me personally, I use Linux... the software is available already installed on many Linux distributions. If you are using any apt based Linux distributions, you can just click this link: apt:gimp (http://apt:gimp) to download and install in one single click.
Once you have the software installed, here's how I made those quick changes in two minutes.
Start with Wand Select, pick the target of the area with the color you are wanting to change. Use the Select Menu to feather by 2px and grow by 1px. Once you have an area you are satisfied with, copy using CTRL-C followed by pasting with CTRL-V. Click on the "New Layer" button in the layer toolbar (not the menu). In the Layer Toolbar, change the layer type to HUE. Go to the paint toolbar and select airbrush and the color you want. Paint the new layer whatever color. If you don't like the color, you can go into the Menu: Colors, Hue-Saturation and play with the output.
Just remember, I've been using Linux and Gimp for more than ten years now... Windows and Mac are completely foreign to me. I encourage the use of a second operating system for all computer systems as a fallback/precautionary use. I've rescued many a dead computer system with a Linux LiveCD. Just make sure to use what works for you.

Hey, blue, I found this site that shows lots of Kymcos with all different designs and colors. This might give you some more ideas...
http://www.kymco.se/moped/kymco_agilityrace.html (http://www.kymco.se/moped/kymco_agilityrace.html)
or
http://www.kymco.se/moped/kymco_moped.htm (http://www.kymco.se/moped/kymco_moped.htm)
Maybe something will catch your eye. :)
-
thanks rianna I Like the one with more blue on then mine then all I have to do is add more blue
and touch up the reast
-
...that red and black "race" a50 is hott!!!
-
Now Here's a Suggestion from "Urbestfriend". The body shop quoted me $300.00 to paint my primed body panels. Go to
"Google Images" and enter "UK Police Vehicles". For $85.00 I bought 2 rolls of the Blue and Lime Yellow Retro Reflective Tape.
Now here's what you get: 1) The utmost in Safety in after-dark riding. 2) A thick tape that protects your plastic panels,
it's thick and durable if your bike falls over (even gravel drive) 3) If you don't like it, just pull it off and redo it next year.
4) Really durable enough to wax it and 5) Makes you stand out. I really think I get more respect and very, very little hassle
because some people think I'm the Police and if anyone does pull out in front of me, it's basically impossible for them to say they didn't see me.

...PICS, MAN!!!...PICS!!!!
:o :o :o

Yeah, that sounds pretty good and pretty easy, too. I noticed they had one with a lighter shade of blue, too. They seemed to offer a lot of racing stripes and more varied designs on top of the basic colors. And they are still making new Super 9 L/C 2t's. They must sell more scoots there or something.
-
Here You Go...............
-
Hey...Looking Good! That's pretty clever. Wow, I see what you mean about the gravel you have to deal with!! What all colors does that reflective tape come in?
-
....WOW!!!!!...
..NO EXCUSES I RECKON!!!
:o :o :o
-
wt100...
what is the color? I've been thinking of doing the same green.
Want to do my fender, some of the front cowling and the under seat panel.
Maybe leave some white on there for pin stripes.
-
wow thats a good idea is the tape cheaper then a rattle can.
-
mmmmm wonder if it comes in camo tape.lol
-
"Find Tape.com" OR: Just enter Reflective Tape and Search.
2" w. x 30 ft. long is around $30-40 depending on the colors.
I ride 10 miles to work at 5:00 every morning. Several weeks ago
the local Police stopped me because he thought my Front LED's were Blue
even though he's seen me for years. However they are a Cool White.
He said: "You sure are reflective". I also wear a Lime Yellow ANSI
Reflective Jacket all the time.
When I see him parked in the morning now, I always honk and wave.
Believe it or not, anyone behind me will not pass me on that two lane
stretch thru town. Any other morning they always speed past because they
figure I'm too slow.
Once in a while, depending on the temp. when you installed it,
a bubble might pop up, but it'll just smooth back out.
-
glopezz05 - At Lows I found a Velspar gloss that is very close to the Kymco green. The can is labeled "Garden Green" but it is very bright. It is not close enough for touch up but definitely close enough for accent peaces.
-
I have black reflective tape on one of my vespas, It's black in daylight but reflects bright white when headlights come across it. I got it from identi-tape.
Also I used DupiColor- Truck,Van & SUV rattle can paint with good results to paint my people. it has a little bit of metal flake. There's a photo in the eye candy section.
-
WELL!!!! I guess I better stay with blue sense I found this on craigslist.
