But fortunately I was able to "lay her down" on the icy front stoop ... and fall gracelessly headfirst into the shrubbery.
Just glad it was too dark for the neighbors to see me crawling back inside.
ABS Adidas would have let me brake & steer out of this.

Glad your OK after your carefully planned and executed fall.
Ice, especially black ice is no fun at all on a bike.
I've had my share of it.

You can heal up but is the BIKE OK? Har, har! Oh, WHERE is the video when we need it? C'mon now. Did you really do a brodie inta the bushes?

"Adidas..."
Scooters are safe in the garage - me, I'm in the shrubbery.
I was just walking out the front door to check the mail....when the world as i know it ended! "highsided" into the evergreens.
I'm OK....just sore. Guy my age has no business doing the splits.

What you needed was traction. ABS is useless without traction. Maybe wear some shoes with spikes next time?

Tell you what, it's been over 3 wks....20 mins in any car seat nearly brings tears. R cheek/upper hamstring hurts like !#$%&@! unless I'm walking.
Stretched the crap out of hamstring.
BUT fortunately --- can ride scooter with no pain.
Might bring in scooter at dining table...
