Hi, all. I'm looking for ideas on how others have transported their Agility 50. I found one, after a long time of searching, from a dealer about 2 hours away. It is a 2007 model and I don't really know if I found a great deal or not, but there isn't a large selection of used scooters in my area of Virginia even on Craigslist. We have one local dealer and when I saw one on their website I went to the bank and took out my money. By the time I got home I had an email waiting for me from them saying they no longer carried this model. :'( So when I found one from a dealer for under a $1,000 out the door I felt I'd better jump on it quick. I don't have a vehicle,and Man, how I miss my 16 passenger van now, with 8 of the back seats removed!
I'm looking for cheap options because the purchase will take just about every penny I have saved for it over the past 2 years. I don't have a vehicle. My son has a Jeep, and even though he's super busy at the moment I would bug and beg for his time, but the dealer said it won't fit. He suggested towing it behind the Jeep with some equipment from U-Haul for $12? I'm not 100% sure the Jeep has a hitch, but I'm thinking it does, will check tonight. I checked the U-Haul website and saw an actual "Motorcycle Trailer" for $14.95, but they don't have any available in my area all week. I'm afraid if I have to wait until the weekend or Monday it will be gone.
It's a fairly straight shot from there to here and most of the trip is all on one road, but it is all Highway and I just wouldn't be comfortable with trying to drive it that distance without speed on my side. It took a long time to save for it and I want to get it home in one piece. I'm sure some folks would and I'm not beyond doing what it takes. In my younger days I probably would have been off of a Greyhound bus and waiting at the dealer's door for them to open on Monday morning and drove all day if I had to to get it back home. ;D
Here's hoping someone else out there has been in my position and might have some creative ideas to share on ways they have transported theirs. Thanks all!

..fortunately, i've never had to haul my guilty, but i have loaded my ppl a few times...
...get y'self a pick-up truck...roll'r up into the back...
..put it up on the center stand, with the front wheel against the front of the truck's bed..
..secure each handlebar with a strap, then secure the rear through the rack...
..ratchet those straps down good and tight...you'll be just fine...

Welcome to the forum I picked up a little hauler for about a $100 on cl. if you got a hitch it worked great for a 1500 mi.round trip

..rianna, i have over 51,000 kms on my A50 that i bought new in Dec of 07...
..you, potentially have a lil beastie there...
..with a few mods, you could take off to nearly anywhere without worry of your speeds..(except th interstates)
..as long as you have plenty of time to get there!!..lol..
..hope you can get it!!!

If the jeep top is removable shoud not be a problem + rear seat I used to hall my dirt bike in an old 60's bronco no problem,with the tail gate down could get 2 in there,little cramped but could be done. With riding gear also!!!

Wow, I'm not great with conversions, but 51,000 kms sounds like it's over 20,000 miles, is that right?!? If so, that is awesome! I'm not sure I've ever even kept and driven a car that far, lol.

My son came home and it looks like he's not going to have the time to help at all this week. It's a shame because it turns out he does have the hitch. It would have been great if I could have just dropped him off somewhere and borrowed it and then picked him back up 5 or 6 hours later, but it's not gonna work out. I may just have to rent me a little pick-up truck or something and ask the scoot shop fellas to help me boost it up in it.
There was an ad on Craigslist for movers and it said they had a flat rate fee for moving larger items. I shot them an email and they replied back real quick with a quote of $340. Yikes! I think an hourly U-haul plus mileage might be less, unless they add expensive insurance or something.
I hope I can get it too, wordslinger, it will be a dream for just around town here even at 30mph. I haven't had a vehicle for about 2 yrs now because I can't afford the insurance when I'm not working. I can't even remember what it was like to just be able to go the store when you run out of something or just want something. Going for groceries once a month because the taxicab rates are so high sucks. If you forget something you are just SOL until the next month rolls around. Lol. But I'll definitely hit you all up for the mod ideas if I get and get a little money again.
Thanks for the pic, art, that's a cool little thing to have. A great investment for the price, too, even if you only use it a few times! I may have to keep that in mind for the future. I think the A50 is around 200 pounds. I bet that cr 500 is heavy!!!

Ha! No not heavy at all for a dirt bike,my buddy's tt 500 that was heavy. That was back in the day it's all about the scooters now! You'll love the freedom and ease of a scoot,thats what got me into it.
A few years back never would have considered it. I'm hooked now ;)

Oh no! Decisions, decisions, lol.
I've been searching for a scooter for what feels like forever now and having no luck. I was planning to go the dealer this Friday or Saturday and pick up the Agility now someone has gotten back to me about a liquid cooled Super 9. Suddenly I've got choices. It's older (2004) with 6 or 7,000 miles on it and needs a few things (sppedometer cable, few scratches on it), but it's already de-restricted to save me some work and he is willing to deliver it to me for $30. He wants $850. I'm soooo confused. lol. I was set to jump on it because it would save me about a hundred bucks for the scoot plus the cost and hassle of transporting a scooter. Then I stop back in here to see what I can find about the Super 9 and I read wordslinger's post about the Agility hitting 36,700 miles and still kicking! That's awesome! Shame I can't get them both. ;D
What would you do? Anybody have any thoughts to throw out there for or against either one? There's so much to consider and I'm so tired of researching, reading and thinking about it all.
I just want to RIDE! Lol.

I wouldn't have considered owning one a few years ago either, but I have a feeling I'm gonna love it and wish I had done it sooner.

;D The s9 has a great reputation It is a 2 stroke(auto gas and oil mix) should have some real good power may not run 50,000 miles but they are alot easier to work on and the liquid cooled is saposed to be one of the best 2 stroke motors around.
If it was neer me I'd get it! Ha! offer $800 plus delivery. ;) Have him show you everything there is to know about it and the forum can fill ya in on the rest. I would take a real good look at that radiater. Don't want to see any crud,slime or goo in there ;) :D Might ask if he has done a belt or roller change recently if not offer less. Good luck!!!

Thanks, art! I'm gonna go look for that link again. I think I saw a link for the manual, I should have saved it when I first saw it. I hate to sound so stupid, but I don't know what a radiator on this thing will look like. I'm gonna learn, though. I have changed spark plugs, oil and transmission filters. etc....small stuff...on cars, but I'm scooter stupid, lol. Where there's a will there's a way.
I asked if he has a helmet he can throw in. Waiting to see what he says. It is de-restricted already but no performance parts added. Can I ask if you know if there is a quick easy way to tell for sure that it is liquid cooled. The guy seems to be telling it straight, I just know from experience that some people will say anything to make a sale, if you know what I mean.

...wow...decisions indeed!!!...those lc s9s are some awesome scoots....a well maintained 2004 will absolutely fly with a cpl of mods...(watch out for the po-po)...
..the agility i have has been one awesome scoot too..i could not ask for a better one..
..i attribute it to the "build" of the scoot in particular (they are manufactured in different locations), and the stringent preventive maintenance i have provided..
..wow, bri..that's a tough decision...I will throw this out there...
..if you're looking strictly for top performance, then go with the s9...if it proves to be well maintained...
..if you want longevity, and there are the numbers "CK50QT-5" printed on the top of it's carburetor, then go with the guilty...it could easily serve you well for 30,000+ miles...

That is a model i have not owned,but there should be an easy access to it somewhere. If the guy don't know where it is that means he did not maintain it well.

Yes, that's a good point! Thanks for shaing your wisdom. If it was me, and I wasn't being completely honest about it's running condition, I don't think I would load it up on a truck and drive 125 miles to prove myself wrong and lose the sale. But you never know, I guess.
I think he's had it for 2 years and he has put a new battery and a rear tire last year, so he may not have done much of anything with it. And who knows what was done with or to it the previous 4 years. But if he shows up before Friday and it runs, my decision will become easy. ;D
So that's how I will know if it's L/C or A/C? Because it has the radiator? :-[

..and, yup it will have the radiator, and will probably have L/C printed on the side of the rear fairing along with Super9..

;D Ac = air cooled and lc = liquid cooled and a much better cooling system if all is working as it should. This can increase the life span of the motor and makes it a great platform for modding if ya decide you need some more power :D

Thanks...I think he said the "S" was the designation for that year or model to mean liquid cooled. I had no clue when I saw "Super 9 S" what it meant and googling it didn't help me out much. If that's what it means I still don't see what "S" has to do with liquid or cooling. lol. Maybe Special Edition or something? Beats me. Could be a tawainese or asian type thing. Now Ac and Lc I can understand!
Thanks for the pic of the radiator. Now, I know exactly what to look for and where to look for it. Do you see an L/C. I can't tell from the pic, but maybe you can.

For the old honda's the s stud for single (cylinder) not sure about the kymco though there roots were with honda ???

if you are only 2 hours a way Drive it home and have someone behind you in a car just for safty
it should stell only take you 3 4 hours that would be a fun ride

That's the truth. I just don't want to have it ruined before I get it home no matter which one I get. And that road is sure to have plenty of sharp curves and hills (in the mountain range here) along the way. I've driven heavy construction equipment, taxicabs, and I drove a tractor trailer cross country for almost a year. I've never driven a motorcycle or scooter, though, and it's probably totally different riding on two wheels than on four. There are a couple of parking lots and open back roads here to zip around on and get the feel of things. I'd rather not ride it home that distance the first time being on it! I have considered it, though! LOL
I forgot all about it being a holiday weekend. :'( Boy, if I had a dollar for every one that told me, "Maybe next week, if it's still there?" I could buy a used pick-up and bring it home already.
Oh, and also for everyone that said, "Just go a few miles down the highway and buy a brand new one for $600 or $700 instead of going all the way to the dealership." Grrr, I can't make them understand why I would rather have a Kymco than one of those "cute" new ones they are talking about, so I gave up trying and just said that I've researched and really want this particular one.
Anyway, I'm still sitting at home (pouting) instead of scooting and trying to be patient. The man with the S9 said he may be able to bring it this weekend, if not then one day this coming week. I noticed the info about the recall on the 2004's and asked him about the engine numbers. It looks like it had the engine that was recalled. He said he is going to check with the dealer it came from (same dealer where the A50 is sitting, small world, lol) to see if had already been repaired or replaced. It may have been fixed already since he wasn't aware of it when he bought it in 2006, if not it will make me question buying from that particular dealer. I guess if it hasn't, maybe my local Kymco dealer can put the new engine to replace the recalled one? I dunno. A Super 9 with a new engine sounds interesting. If I lived in a bigger city, I would be riding already for sure.

Indeed before you riding a scoot you need few hours to get use with it on near streets or smthing like that ...otherwise its pretty scary ,I did that mistake when I runned first time with my scoot and I hited a safety wall from a turn cuz of a truck who horned when he passed me and I didn't know to well how to react at brake at stearing ...in one word I didnt know my scoot...so its verry important .I was lucky cuz the plastics from this agility are well made and faced the parapets ...just few minor scratch bouth on me and scoot

I didn't realise you hadn't ridden before, deffinately get some quiet practice before going out on the road. Once you get going you will love it.
So, are there any forum members in the area who can pick up a scoot????? Not a hard job.

Ouch! So glad you and your scoot are okay! Yeah, that was my fear. Gotta learn how it handles and what it does before a long drive so I don't overreact when something unexpected happens on the road because those unexpected things always happen.

Will do. Not much to post so far. A fella up the street got a peace scooter not too long ago. So I walked up there and knocked on his door and asked him about where he found a helmet at around here. He came outside and talked to me for a good while, giving me tips and telling me about registering it at the police station and all. He let me borrow his helmet for a few minutes so I did at least get to ride it about a block down the street and back up the street. ;D
Before that my neighbor's son a few doors away was pulling up to visit his mother and he saw me trying to push that big thing up the hill and through the yards and really soft ground to get it to the road. He rolled his window down and yelled down to me, "Did you get a scoot?" So I yelled back up and said, "Yeah, that means you're gonna teach me how to ride it now, right?" He laughed and parked his car then came over and got it to the road for me. lol. He said it seemed a little heavier than his. I think his is a chinese scooter, too.
I live waaaaay down in the bottom and I have to go through two neighbor's yards to get it to the road because the only other way is up two flights up steps. lol. There's a small rock wall between my place and the next yard and I had to make a little ramp to get it over there. (Yes I tried to go around it, but the ground is soft and slanted on a hill where that little wall ends so I lost my footing and fell. I managed to keep the scooter from falling all the way down to the ground, though. I just got a little dirty and my heart raced a little faster. Whew!)
So then he tried to convince me to take it up the hill to the college because everybody on the street knows that parking lot will be the best place get my bearings and get a feel for things. When college is out for a break kids will ride their bikes there. I used to with my son. But I just kept looking up that loooong steep hill, sid, and shaking my head. We have three roads out of here to the road the college is on and they are ALL hills. We decided which was the smallest one. He offered to ride it up for me if I drove his car, but I said UH-UH, no way, because I know you will get it up there and take off to make me learn how to get it back down the steep hill myself. Then everybody will see Rianna sleeping on the sidewalk by the college tonight. :D

It's a shame you have to go through that to get to the road, but, when you get used to it you will just ride through there. Good luck with finding a helmet and all the best with your practice.

It is a shame, but once I do it...Look Out! First time I succeed they will probably hear me whoopin' and hollerin' all the way down in the bottom and across the creek on the other side of the hollow. hahaha
We gots a small hill down here. Yesterday I practiced just coasting down it and hitting the brakes to get an idea what would happen coming down a larger hill. Seems the front brakes jerk much more than the back ones do. Both of them together seemed less jerky. I'm not sure, but I think the front ones seem to slow it down faster. May need both coming down that grade.

you should try to use both breaks = The front has more power being its a disk but the rear acts kinda like a rutter practice useing botth all the time, just go a little lighter on the front it can send you right over :o

..you can also adjust the reaction of the rear drum brake...
..i can slide my rear tire at 30 mph, if i have to...i did have to once before..

..the front disc brake will slow you down quickly..but you should have a firm grip on the rear brake before jamming the front..
..y' want to squeeze the front brake lever with a lighter touch...and always be aware of the road condition your front tire is on when jamming the front brake...don't want it to skid...like on wet or oily pavement..beware of wet painted lines and such..they're slick!!!

Ah, THAT'S the difference! I forgot about the rear being drum. I was still thinking about that super 9 with the disc brakes on both front and back. Makes sense now. I was expecting too much outta that poor little drum. Thanks for the tips. I will practice more tomorrow with hitting the rear brake first and holding it when I use the front one.
Sliding the rear tire at 30mph! Yikes!

With any vehicle, caq or bike, the front is where the main braking power is, however, the rear does do a lot.
