Hi all,
Purchased a new Xciting 400 this weekend. Had a Vespa GTS 300 but wanted a scooter that was more highway friendly. I also own a Vstrom 650.
Read a good number of comments and reviews about the 400i and Kymco in general. Decided on the 400i for the roominess (I'm 6' 2"), sporty feel and look, right balance of power/economy and a good $$$ value. The other options were at least a $1k more and didn't feel comfortable.
My only concern is the weak dealer network.
Looking forward to some nice riding. Any tips or suggestion for upgrades would be appreciated. Especially, windscreen suggestions.
Enjoying this forum as well.

Welcome to the forum. I was sitting on one at Berts last weekend. That was the only one I have seen at a dealer locally.

Welcome to the forum. I picked up my 400i last May and it has been a blast to ride. In the garage at the moment, to freakin cold to ride.

Weak dealer network? You have Chaparral in San Berdo, Berts in Covina, Scooter Dynasty in LA, PCH Powersport in Santa Monica and Pacific Motorsports in Harbor City. Not that weak.

You're right.
I was just comparing to the other brands that are sold in the local area. Then I'm only talking about servicing locations.
In fact the Vespa/Piaggio/Genuine dealer also sells Yamaha, but doesn't want to sell the Xmax/Smax.
The local Suzuki/Yamaha dealer recently told me they are not stocking any scooters. Both are less than 10 miles from my home. There is a Honda dealer about the same distance. Not sure about their scooter inventory.

Welcome.
Recommend the Givi widescreen.
Go ahead and order your oil filter(s). They are unique to the 400. May consider ordering an air filter ahead of time too.
Dealers here but no real support.
Still I Love this scooterand purchased it knowing the situation. It's my main ride.

I just use amazon, you can get a good deal on them there, and receive them in like 2 days!

I look forward to hearing about your experiences with this scoot'. I would very seriously consider Kymco products as ~95% the quality of the "Big Four" Japanese moto manufacturers.
I was in Taiwan a few months ago and saw the 400i and 550. They are very impressive products and ones that I would take a long look at if they were in the US market (Yes, the 400i is already!). The DT300 is also a very attractive product, if not available here any more.
Happy riding!

WELcome, WEL! Sorry could not pass that up! The weak link in most dealers is the service department. But not to worry, this band has gone way beyond any service department. You will enjoy that machine. How do I know when I don't have one? I just know! Just don't park next to any tree or manzanita bush in California!
