Is it possible to replace the existing front fender storage box lock set (P/N 75581) on my Like 200i with a push-button release? While I appreciate that a lot of folks like the storage box's locking feature, I'd personally like to throw my phone, garage door opener, and house keys in there, and be able to access them while the engine is running - which I can't do now, because I'm forced to turn off the ignition and use the key to open the storage box.
Is it possible to remove the lock-set without doing damage to the plastic door?
If so, is there another model of Kymco that uses a push-button, instead of the lock? If so, perhaps I could order that push-button part and swap the two pieces?
Thanks!

Now this would be ideal.

Years ago a member addressed this problem by making a spare key, cutting it down, rubberized the head, and leaving it in that latch.
Seems like you better not ever forget to take it along when parked in public!
I don't know that many step through scooters permit access to that box without some action taken by the key.

Do you think that something like this would work?

Looks possible, but the measurements would have to be spot on.

Turns out we need the longer model, which is available on Amazon for about $10 USD, plus some rubber washers:

That came out nicely.

I bought/installed the 1 3/8" model. Required a couple of extra stainless washers and grommets, easily found at local Ace. Installed and it works!

That's great! How about a photo? :)

Looks just like your installation!
