What do you guys think about these scooters(SMAX vs, PCX)? I might be looking at one for a second scooter along with my 400i. There are no Piaggio dealers in the area, so I can't really look at a 150, which would have been my first choice. Also why the heck is Honda still using drum brakes for the rear on a new scooter...

Seems alot of PCX owners give up on checking the valves since you start the disassembly at the tail light and work forward removing panels. The neglect sure doesn't seem to bother these well made scooters.

Both are great scooters. I have an SMAX along with my Kymco Like. At the time, I did not consider the PCX because I liked the flat floor of the other. I would spend some time sitting on each of them, as the ergonomics are very different. The manual for the SMAX states to adjust the valves every 2k miles. I did that the couple of times. The last time was at 4k miles interval. They didn't move.
Now the more I look at the PCX, the more appealing it is. I won't get another small scooter unless it is a replacement. I am considering a maxi like the 400 or a Burger.

I wouldn't worry about the drum brake.
Unless the PCX has a substantial ergonomic advantage, I'd go with the Smax for the extra power and lack of linked brakes. Then again, since you already have a 400, you might not want/need the power.
