Title: Kymco People One 125i Bad idle

I have a 2014 Kymco People One 125i with a very bad idle. It's running high then low as if its revving all by itself. I have made a bad video demonstration for you to see.

I have no warning lights or codes and the bike runs fine when the throttle is open. It's usually starts better and the worsens as it warms up. It usually falls at the light but then fires up fine again on the button.

I'm assuming it's electrical but it's hard to find anyone who knows anything about this model.

Any help appreciated!

Post by: PaulF on October 18, 2018, 09:52:13 PM: I am guessing it is one of the sensors or throttle body. You will probably need to take it to a dealer so they can test it will the correct equipment.

That would make sense. When I say electrical problem I mean on of the sensors needing to be replaced, but without a error code it's a shot in the dark. I ran around on it last night for about 20 miles and still nothing blinking on the dash. Plenty of stalling though.

I'll take it to the garage and hopefully he'll be able to work it out.

The mechanic says it needs a new throttle body.

Anybody know of compatible throttle bodies for this scooter????? Thereâ€™e Not many available online and a new one is 550 euros.

It runs very well above idle!

Post by: CROSSBOLT on November 07, 2018, 11:17:26 PM: Well, he really IS a "genius" since the idle is fixed at the factory and "idle screws" are not to be changed. The tech is thinking carburetors and this is fuel injection. Running well above idle points to a problem with Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and/or Idle Speed Control (ISC). This may be solved by initializing. Replacing whole assemblies such as the throttle body may eliminate the problem but then it may not. The Kymco tool will point out if it is in the throttle body or the ECU. Under warranty will replace nearly everything no problem but the dealer MUST initiate the call for parts. Call your regional representative if your dealer is reluctant. Does the dealer have the Kymco tool?
