What is everyone getting for MPG's with their People S 200's? Thanks!
-
I am getting about 60 MPG which is lower than I expected. What are you getting?
Hal
-
I'm getting 77 mpg.
-
I've had my used People s200 for 5 months and put 1200 miles all in-town riding at 25-55 mph and have averaged 77 mpg.
-
I've had an '09 People S 125 for a month now and I am getting on average 93 mpg (imperial gallon) which isn't too bad considering I have the throttle pinned most of the time. I actually managed 100 kph (just over 60 mph) a couple of times.
-
So I drive my bike full tilt most of the time. We have some hills here on the PA,DE boarder, so it is not totally flat. I figure I am getting about 65 MPG. I might be getting a little better than that, but I don't know for sure. It seems like I fill my bike about every 100 miles and put in about 1,3 gallons. I guess that comes out a bit higher than 65. i use the highest octane and I add fuel stabelizer as well.
-
realestateguy,
why are you using fuel stabelizer? I also run high octain (a habit from my vintage Vespa).

I get almost 80MPG and I use non oxygenated (no ethanol corn squeezin') gas in all my 'toys' except my cars and lawn mowers. Got this recommendation from the boat dealer. It costs more and has higher octane. Is this a waste for a scooter in MN?
-
The Peep S 200 got 71 mpg on it's first measured tank of gas. 88.3 miles and 1.25 gallons.
Don't know if the odometer is accurate or if it is optimistic. Update, the speedo is about 10% optomistic, don't know about the odo.
Update: second measured tank got 62.5 mpg, US gallons. The Peep was used mostly for short rides, lots were 1.6 mi to the grocery store and same mi back to home.
Third measured tank got 75 mi, this tank was filled at the 100 mile mark, it had a 60 mile ride on back roads at about 42 mph indicated and the other 40 miles were short rides to stores, etc. This tank was with a windshield installed, it is a tall WS made for the People S series.

Your MPG is the high end of the curve. That should answer your question. Better fuel ALWAYS = better mileage. Whether it is cheaper to use in the long run is another topic. I believe it is.
-
I just gassed up and got 73 MPG, mostly mixed riding but a good 20 miles or so on the highway going almost full tilt, my next tank should be a bit better, will report back with the results.
-
I didn't know you had a bike 008! ;D
-
Filled up today and was shocked I only got 65 MPG, disappointing to say the least. Will see what next time brings. So far combined I'm just over 69 mpg.
-
My MPG is in the high 50s. I do ride aggressively and weigh 210.
But something is likely wrong with the carburetion. One of the valve clearances was also too tight.
-
Filled up last night and got 71 MPG so my avg is now about 70 MPG overall. Not bad but I had hoped for better. I filled with super this time and will see if any possitive change is made.
-
From everything I know about engines... You should see 10% increase in mileage using premium fuel.
-
Filled up tonight and got 73 MPG avg back up to around 71.5 now. Used super again. lets see how it goes.
-
I have a 2009 and I get about 70 mpg on most tanks. I always use super.

Hey Bad scooter, welcome to the forum, congrats on post number 1!
-
Filled up again last night, 58 MPG! Very disappointing!!! Same route, same traffic, maybe I was able to squeeze a bit more fuel into the tank this time but could not be that much more, and even if I did that means the last fill up didn't take me as far as the one prior.
68 MPG avg now.

I bought my 2010 People S 200 from a dealer with only 250 miles on it. Up to about 600 now, and I'm getting right about 70 mpg average with super.
My commute is about 18 miles each way, with about a third through the city (read: stop and go) and the rest on parkways ranging between 40 and 55 mph.
FWIW, when I bought the scoot, the dealer for some reason had put in synthetic oil. I know this is probably awful for the engine during the break-in period. Should I change to mineral this weekend, or is damage already done?
-
It does no damage to use from the beginning. Because it is slicker it takes longer for "breakin" to occur. It's really just when all the parts make larger contact areas due to metals polishing down or heat cycling to seat.

Good to know. Thanks.

Filled up last night, 55 MPG! WTF?
Same route every day, 6 miles to and from work nothing else, how do I go from 73 MPG one week to 55MPG the next?
Same gas, same station, same riding conditions.
Next fill up will be something to see.
-
Got 75 mpg over the last five gallons, regular gas, 14 mi. round trip commutes. Bike is a 2009.

Tire pressure?

Tire pressure?
Will check it tomorrow. That's a huge drop though. more then 20%

Just another thought... The carb diaphragm. You will need more, and more throttle if it tears or swells beyond usable. If it just swollen (from Eth) leave it out on a dry place to gas out, and it will shrink back to normal in 2-3 days. I have three that I swap out every 2-3 months.
-
OK tire pres. is/was fine, filled up today and got 66 MPG so back within normal range at least. So much for better MPG with super gas. I'm going back to reg octane and see if my MPG goes back to 70 or so.
Thanks for all the advice thus far.

If I have to swap out parts on any of my motorized vehicals every 3 months I'll sell them. I have no time for things being on a lift for BS reasons.

Filled up tonight, 1.4 gals and 80 miles. About 57 MPG! Shockingly low, but I did do a lot more high speed/rev riding this tankfull. Will do more of the same this fill up just to see how it goes then go back to the back roads and lower speeds to see how it goes.
-
I'm also getting about 65 mpg, mostly cruising at 50-60mph. It was advertised for more, but It's much better than my SUV at 15(max) mpg.
-
Got 60 MPG last tankfull, pretty low but at least half of the miles were going close to wide open. I may try the tank after this going 45 as a max speed to see what that shakes out.
-
60.4 MPG this fill up, not doing so great on MPG but still beats the car by a long shot, plus it's fun and easy to park in tha city.
-
I'm getting about 70 mpg. I ride 55-60 mph all on the flats.

I'm about 170-180 lbs and have a full wind screen on my scoot, when I first got her I got better MPG, I'm not sure maybe just too much sitting at traffic lights.
-
I'm a "lite weight" at 130 lbs.
Like I said I never see so much as a hill so that makes a huge difference.

Greetings everyone.
We just got a 2009 People s 200. Two fill-ups now; the first got 56MPG and the second got 61. 8 miles to and from work, a couple of miles on a highway. I'm sure it will improve as it is not fully broken in yet.
At weight 6'3" and 215 pounds, I'm not very aerodynamic. Love the scoot though!
Sold my 1986 Honda Elite 250, which always averaged 65 MPG, not matter how I drove it. Miss the power, but everything else is 10x better.
Hope to add a Cuppini Windshield soon!

Premium fuel helps by 10%. I prove it to everyone that listens.
If you are already on premium, let off the throttle some, and do more frequent oil changes.

I do that too on all my small engines. I haven't tried alcohol free yet, though.
Also time for an oil change and checking the spark plug, just over 500 miles. I'm sure mine will get better...
Thanks!

The problem I have w/ non ethanol fuel is, where I live it is only offered in regular grade, and not premium so using it reduces the MPG.
It's sort of a catch 22.
Hmmmmm. We may just have uncovered another government plot. Force all the vehicles on the road to use more fuel than needed.
Ethanol as a fuel is a fantastic way to go in my opinion but mixing it with gasoline is actually reducing the MPG of the gas, and ... well I'm not gonna start that again.
While I believe Eth is a better fuel because it is cleaner burning, has more power per liter, and is renewable it requires richer jetting so it actually is wasted in a gasoline mix, and takes up space in the jet or injector that should be filled w/ gas thereby reducing MPG.
I guess we can only do so much w/ what we have to work with. Bottom line is the 10% MPG gain using premium vs regular (both containing 10% Eth) is the same as running dirty non Eth regular MPG wise.
Catch 22.
F American business, and its puppet government. Now I'm pissed off again.
-
Let me get this right, "E" makes reg gas get less MPG but yet it produces more power per Liter?
How is that they are both possible?
My understanding on if is that the cost and to produce "E" is not yet coast effective and it also drives up the price of meat and corn due to demand by farmers/ranchers etc.
PS on my last fill up I got 67 MPG city highway combined.
