Question...
Will I notice a difference just by installing a polini var?
I'm talking same weights but what weights are you all running?
I'm a big guy and live in the hills.
-
I like the malossi, but couldn't tell ya the best weights to run. If ya can get a veriater Kit with an after market drive face, you might be interested in some thing like this. http://www.provoscooter.com/scooters/ruima-racing-variator-139qmb.html (http://www.provoscooter.com/scooters/ruima-racing-variator-139qmb.html) . Dont know the quality of the veriater but has the drive face for a little more top end. Than you might want a little stiffer clutch spring ;D See how this go's ;)
-
Oh ya there will be a difference, Getting it tuned right can be a little tricky, but not to bad with some support :D
-
hi
i´ve got the polini variator, it´s not bad, but for the same price today i would go for the malossi, it includes the main spring , that polini doesnt have. both are very good.
btw i´ve got my new gates belts hehehe.... wicked! doing downhill 95km/h :P straight line 85kmh alone or with two persons it just rocks!
i´ve got to get those gear ratios....
cheers!

Hey orbitz did you see an upgear for the agility. I would like to see that sight if ya can post it. I think they would work in the people 50 2t also. Thanks

I just bought an Agiltiy 50, and just ordered the Polini Variator from scooter Dynasty. http://www.scooterdynasty.com/polinihighperformancespeedcontrolvariatorkitsforkymcoscooters.aspx (http://www.scooterdynasty.com/polinihighperformancespeedcontrolvariatorkitsforkymcoscooters.aspx)
Has anyone installed this? What were your results? I can't wait to get this installed and test it out. I also just de-restricted the CDI (I think) by making the cut on the end of the CDI box, however I'm not sure if it worked or not. Will I be able to tell a difference? ???
-
Welcome to the forum, You may need to be going down hill to see if the cdi mod is working You should see an increase in top speed. The polinni should work fine for you. You may have to change your roller weights to get the best results.
You will need an impact wrench and a 17mm socket to get the nut off the varieter side and a 14mm for the clutch side if doing the spring also.

..welcome to th' Forum!!, Mwellington...
..is this a new scoot??
..if not, how many kms??
peace
-
@art: I did a downhill test, and my top speed is now about 45 MPH.
@wordslinger: It's not new, it's an 07 w/ about 3500 km on it.
-
...3500...wow..it's still "new" then, lol...
..i got 51,000 on my '08...
;D
-
;D ha! Great! It was an awesome deal too... I bought locally for $600.00 USD.
-
..what are, any numbers printed on the top of your carburetor??
-
There are two sets of numbers I could find. One, on the top face of the carb- LDC8 or B. The other, on the top right side of the carb was 0214A.
-
orbitz, what is the size belt you got? I think as long as I'm going to be in there I could throw on a new belt.
-
...g-lo, i'm running a 729-17.7-30...
..it's slightly longerthan the oem bando...
..allows the belt to ride slightly higher on the variator's drive face...
..creates higher top speeds, but might require some further cvt tuning...
..i'm loving seeing the speedometer hit 60mph....
;D

Just installed the polini variator (with no impact wrench! I did the "Jam a wrench into the case, then torque on it as hard as you can, till it comes off and you fall on your a**" technique). It came with 6.9 gram rollers.
What I have noticed:
Top speed didn't really go up that much, may have even gone down a mile or two. What I did notice is that my acceleration is much smoother, more of a linear progression instead of coming in waves. I can now maintain a good 30 mph up a pretty substantial hill, and my takeoff speeds are quicker. ;D
-
Thanks for the input.
Think I'll order the malossi since it comes with 2 sets of rollers and the torque driver spring.
I'll fill you in on how that goes.

..i'm loving seeing the speedometer hit 60mph....
..downhill, mind y'...but's consistent....
Think I'll order the malossi
..i need to get me another malossi...i loved that variator..ran it HARD for 15,000 kms....
..it performed very well!!
