Title: People 200s slow getting off the line.
Post by: badgas on October 01, 2018, 12:05:35 PM: Must apply huge amount of throttle to get scoot to start moving. Once it starts moving it's very responsive. What's normal for the 200s, and what might be the problem?

Post by: CROSSBOLT on October 01, 2018, 01:22:43 PM: That would be directly related to clutch condition: spring strength, pivot of shoes. Also gearbox condition: lube content? How well is the gearbox lubed?

Post by: badgas on October 01, 2018, 03:38:07 PM: Don't know. Just bought this scoot and had planned on assessing its needs this winter. I'll be tearing it down shortly, check it against specs, and, I'm sure, be buying many parts. Thanks for the tip. I'll give special attention to the clutch.

I replaced my clutch last year (didn't need to, just did it...) with a factory clutch and the replacement takes more throttle to move that did my original one....but when it hooks up it really takes off fast..for a scooter. It has a stronger spring in there than the original one...which I take as meaning it needs more throttle to get going.

You may or may not have anything wrong with your scoot...

When brand new do they have a little creeping forward at idle, which means that you must use the brake to avoid going forward? How much throttle twist is normal before the scoot starts to move forward? I've seen some scoots on u-tube, up on center stand and running at low idle,that the drive wheel moved ever so slowly... Being a newbie I've no idea as to what to expect out of my peep....

Post by: stuo on October 03, 2018, 06:29:00 PM: All four of my scoots will have rear wheel slowly turning at idle on center stand but no creep when on ground. Idle speed after warm up is around 1700 rpm.
