Title: Those 3 wheel scooters
Post by: Stig / Major Tom on October 01, 2018, 11:33:53 AM
Not talking about the relatively new 3 wheel Piaggios....but those big old plastic things with the wide-spread front wheels?
Just saw another one go by. It is well lit from the rear, I'll give it that.
Sure looks awkward to ride around corners. I would be more inclined to buy a used Miata cabrio with the same $$.
Good way for those with a disability to go riding I guess. But, I  don't think that all of them have a disability.
Speaking of which....saw a HD parked in a handicap spot the other day at my daughter's college lot. Hmmm?

Thought about one myself in the future until I saw the car-like price. Likely less likely to tip over than the tricycle type with one wheel up front I’m thinking. But if you’re talking about the same ones I’ve seen, the price can be upwards of 25,000. THAT’s CRAZY! . As for the HD in the handicapped space, I can easily see a person being able to ride and balance a cycle but having problems walking a distance. But I admit that it does seem a little odd. Lol

If you're talking about those Can Am Spyders, there's more to those than you might think.  A Rotax motor, high quality components, great fit and finish.  People I have ridden with love them, praise how stable, comfortable, and great handling they are.  Every one of those people used to ride big bikes for years, and went to three wheels as time and health required.  Without exception they don't regret the move.  I have other friends that bought "traditional" Harley trikes: bad quality, vague handling, physically exhausting to ride.  $35,000 !!!!   So yeah, them Spyders are odd, and (relatively) expensive, but if it keeps ya in the wind then I say go for it, it's a great option.

Don't forget the Polaris Slingshot. Like the Can-am Spyker only with a steering wheel!

Got a friend here in 'Bama with one of those.  Put a roof kit on and it looks like a damm Batmobile.  He loves it.  Oddly enough, it's considered a bike in Alabama, so he has to wear a helmet, but a car in Florida, so there he can ditch the helmet but has to buckle up.  It's cool, but to me much more car-like than that Spyder.  THOSE are kinda like a snowmobile with wheels.  No wonder they love them up in Maine...

I am surprised ScooterDepot.Com is still in business! They screwed so many people including me they should still be hangin' on the fence in Borrego Desert! Well, we did get Kymco after they screwed us!

Slingshot WAS considered a motorcycle, but has been reclassified. Looks like one of those things where when you cross a state line you can be in a different vehicle.  ::)

Kinda nifty around here.
You need a helmet (I'm pretty sure on that, but not positive) and you need a trike license, but it garners you the carpool lane, & motorcycle privilege and rates on the Ferry system.

Almost every state has a disabled plate, nothing out of the ordinary.

Now for auto cycles . I hated them until I saw and drove a Vanderhall.
Ordered a Venice and should have it late October.

The name, and the shape, brings to mind green F1 cars of old ----- and the Morgan.
Is there a British connection with this company?

I think you're talking about the Lotus from the 60's...

Vanderhall! Never knew! Very, VERY F-1 1960-ish! Utah, SLC? GM power train is what the Slingshot uses! Go, AMAC!

I got to go for a ride in a Campagna T-Rex, fasten your seatbelts, they can corner as good as a Formula 1 race car
