What is the alternator/stator/regulator-rectifier output capability? Not in specs in owners manual (big surprise!), not in severe manual (no surprise!). Anyone?
I am tempted to get two 55 watt halogens for high beam since 35 watts are lame.

Well... different bike, but I have about 160 watts spare on my 250.
I'd be most worried about the housing, and maybe the wiring/fuses.

Doesn't the light bucket actually need to be configured from the factory for an LED bulb? Seems to me that the reflector would be all wrong.

Yes, YES! I have a lengthy post on here somewhere about LED "experiment" with pictures. The affordable LED halogen replacements have unacceptable beam patterns. The chips are in the wrong place and the ratings are nonsense. The lumens output do not match the watts and amps.

By the way, I sent an email to Shindengen and got an answer already! The say the 232-12 is proprietary with Honda and cannot divulge watts and amps. So now will email Honda. Yep, I emailed Kymco Taiwan!

How you know dat? What bike? What reg-rectifier? If this thing is 160 watts, no problemo!

Would the higher wattage bulbs create too much heat for the reflectors?

Good question. I don't know. Willing to try regardless. Less concerned about reflectors than being able to see if I get stuck out after sunset! Present high beam unusable.

Update: Talked with Honda this afternoon and they tell me they do not have that information and call the local dealer! I retorted, "Ha, ha. You make joke, right?" Anyway, I thanked them for calling back from an email. What do you think? Figure a Honda shop is gonna have that in their service manual?

I changed the original 4 halogen of my DT, by two pairs of Chinese brand 6C
In my eyes, they changed from water to wine ...

I've heard of some people needing to drill holes in the bulb housing of other bikes to let the excess heat out.
The bike is a Yamaha XV250. The manual is more helpful than the Kymco manual apparently. I actually just read someone else's math without checking it myself -- seems they were referencing the output at a moderate speed, rather than idle.
Rectifier/regulator is a Shindengen SH650 rated at 18 amps. Stator is a Denso LMZ65 with at output of 12.5ish amps at 1500rpm, 20amps at 2000 rpm, 25amps at 4000rpm.

Hello Karl. Probably a little different but this is the GTI People 300 specs. Hope this helps a bit.

I would jump on those 55 watt bulbs if this could be close to the Kymco output! It remains a mystery how to verify since it seems to be a "national secret!"

SO in a nut shell, how many more amps and volts can we use without draining the battery so to speak while riding?

The latest from Kymco USA Steven Oliver, Director of Service and Logistics the stator is rated at above 12 amps @5000 rpm at 14 volts(assuming regulated output. There is NO WAY to ask the question right the first time to get the type of answer needed!) which gives about 150 to 165 watts. Total available. Now I will measure the amps when the bike is running and maybe get the difference.
Side info: our three-phase regulator-rectifiers are the "shorting" type meaning they short the stator output to ground to regulate the voltage output of the system. This also means the heavier load on the system LIGHTENS the waste heat load on the regulator. Of course, this also increases the heat load on the rectifier!

I was kinda wondering about 160 spare watts! Both engines should be swinging the same alternator capabilities considering similar displacements. Steve said the design was pretty close to save weight and minimize drain on the engine.
