Title: HOW TO!? :)
Post by: Nireen on September 30, 2018, 06:02:24 PM
Kat got stranded on the road for the past two hours. Called my road side insurance and they would take 90 minutes to get to me. So I decided to take the bike apart LOL. Found out the spark-plug cap flew off!!! geeez! First I thought it might be my new drive belt broke but no it was old sparky.

How to make sure that cap is on snug. I seem to have troubles getting that thing on and to snug up!

The cap can swivel back and forth, no worries.  But it must stay on!
The clipping bit inside the rubber boot of the spark plug cap may be chipped.....preventing a nice solid "click" onto the spark plug top.
These caps are not expensive, and its connecting wire to the coil...both parts are not expensive.
For now, get the cap on there as best you can and get on home!
At home, if you have an old spark plug
...try connecting it to your scooter's plug cap. If it won't go, then you'll know...need a new cap. They just screw onto the wire most times.
Good roadside sevice find....well done!

Thanks Stig!!

I think I got it.  I find I have to get it into the right spot to do that. Like I can't just push it on any old way and it snug in. I seem to have to twist it a certain spot.  Does that make sense? Or should it snug on no matter how you put it?

Yeah, as long as it's on.....your good. Shouldn't have come off in the first place. Must not have seated well.

It shouldn't have to face any particular way though. Normally you just push it straight on until you feel a click.

Inside the spark plug boot there is a small spring clamp that holds the top threaded part of the spark plug. This clamp may be damaged from corrision or force. If it's the latter then you can bend it back with a long screwdriver or pliers.

you have it right MJ   some people jam the cap on over the screw  cap of the plug ,  then the next guy takes the screw cap off and the wire wont hold because it is spread open,  some one make a picture of the plug with screw top on and screw cap off,  my pictures come in by pony express,  3 months time  old man de dee
