I am searching for a slow persistent oil leak. Coming some where from top or middle of engine.

That tube is from the air filter box, it empties out the air filter box, from fumes and oil residue that is spewed out from the engine tappet cover air pipe that also goes in to the air filter box. There should not be much in there, ever, otherwise you have more serous problems.

Good picture of the "Puke Tube!" Like xsel777 said, it's from the airbox and that plug in the end of the FULL TUBE should be removed periodically to drain. That stuff won't burn and has caused all sorts of poor run/idle symptoms that alarm everyone. Voice of experience! Several, if not all EFI models have this feature.

Thanks for the prompt knowledgeable response. I think that it is collected oil from an overfill. My bike is not EFI but carbuerated. I will drain and flush it.

Amazing how easy to get info is when you have pictures. 8)

The only Kymco I have had with a carb was an Agility 50!

In the ongoing search for the oil leak I have finally eliminated the scratched corner of the crankcase. The local auto parts store suggested adding dye to the oil. Using a UV light, it seems the oil is leaking from the cylinder/crankcase gasket. There is a previous thread from many years ago that discussed this problem.

I only have 6.7K mi on the bike. Is this a more common than reported issue?

Any idea what this might cost if I could find a local mechanic? Nearest dealer/shop according to KYMCO.com is > 100mi.

See if the head nuts are loose first. Use a GOOD torque wrench if not experienced.

Wouldn't I have to take it almost all apart to get to the cylinder/crankcase bolts/studs? Might as well get a new head gasket and put it in.

I have been waiting 3 weeks for parts from N.C. parts depot due to water issues. I have heard there is a west coast (California) parts depot but no one seems to know how to order from there.
