Title: Vapor Control Valve

I decided to do some more cleaning on the emission vent hoses and when I opened the vapor control valve the spring and rubber part popped out. I've scoured the internet and cannot find a diagram of the proper placement. Obviously I have it wrong,starts easily when it's cool in the morning and very hard to start when it's been sitting in the hot sun at work. Would appreciate any help.

Is it possible that the valve is reassembled correctly  - but hoses are back on the wrong nipple?
I have a spare with all the hoses attached...can post a photo of it.
As for that little one-way valve....never had it apart.

So, does it seem that your tank can exhale, but cannot inhale?
Air moving into tank when you crack the cap after a hot sit? Or is it moving out of the tank?

Hoses are correct,I only removed 1 at a time. I'm sure I've assembled the components in the valve incorrectly. Scooter has always started with just a bump of the starter but now after it sits in the sun is when I'm having starting issues. Granted our weather has been close to the hundred mark during the day.

Two thoughts:
Would removing the vent hose from the tank improve hot starting?
If you have to bump the starter several times for a hot start - might the battery be old enough to be suspect?


Can you give us a photo of the disassembled valve?
The group might see how to put it together again, corrrectly.

try opening your gas cap and check if there is preasure or suction , if there is suction it could collapse the tank,  if it is plastic ,

With the colder weather the tank vacuum problem had gotten worse,finally removes all hoses to the tank and evap cannister. After checking everything low and behold found the problem. Where one of the vent lines connects to canister was blocked with plastic flash from the factory. Removed flash and no more problems, where it was blocked was labeled tank on the cannister.
