Title: AGILITY 50 DE-RESTRICTED CDi BOX
Post by: esellie on July 28, 2010, 09:32:58 PM
Does a person gain anything by buying a de-restricted CDI box or is this just for the people that don't dare cut in wire in their existing CDI box?  I'm just wondering if there are any additional benefits.

..you can order, from Sutai, a "programmed" cdi that will manipulate your engines performance at certain revs...

..however, for most ppl, if you CAN de-restrict your cdi, by whatever method, then it's a FREE mod well worth the time it takes to learn how it's done..

..a "race" cdi is only better, if you also upgrade all the other ignition components...

..just my opinion...

Mine is a 2009 model and has the following wire colors: Green, blue/yellow, black/yellow, and black. I have noticed that in some of the pictures of the CDI boxes that some appear to be transparent on the top that you cut into so you can see what you are doing.  My box happens to be solid black so you can't see what you are doing until you cut into it. Is it safe to gently cut into it with a hack saw or razor blade until the copper wire becomes visible and cut through it.  Should I still looking for the same brown copper wire to cut through that was described in a previous forum?  Thanks!

..you want to notch it just like in these pics...

...don't be alarmed if you don't see the wire...

..sometimes, the tool will drag plastic back over the copper, making it hard to see...

..this is a pic of my cdi, that was ground off by my dealer...

..as you can see, there is nothing you could damage by cutting a small notch, as shown in the previous post..

..you can further see that my cdi has the same color wires as yours...

..the red wire is not connected to the cdi...

Thanks wordslinger!  I made the change and got an extra 5 mph out of it.  I weigh about
235 pounds and previously 30 mph was my maximum speed.  I can now get up to 35 mph which helps a lot.  I noticed that my speedometer on the scooter shows about 5 mph higher than it really is.  When the scooter says I'm doing 40 mph my GPS I took with me says 35 mph.  I think Kymco wants me to think I'm going faster than I really am.  Would  anyone recommend me working on the boss drive for the next modification or the carberator?  I would really like to be able to get it up to 45 mph. Thanks!

..that'll get you to 45..and maybe even more downhills...

.i weigh around 225 m'self...and yeah, most scoot speedos are a bit optimistic..

..with mine, the offset get less as speed increases...

..well, go ahead and pack your bags!!!

..the ck50qt-5 carb goes on the CK139QMB-2 engine..

...these scoots are built in KYMCO's Changzhou province R&D facility in China...

..they have a different piston and rings, than some other A50 builds...

I have a 2009 Agility 50cc my self .I was wondering being a mechanic .By making these mods seems to me  the engine revs faster more friction less engine life .Thats why its  restricted in the first place .Doe's anyone have a dericted engine and for how long have you been going 35 to 45 mph .Thanks a heap .And  good luck with yours .Y.D

..long time no see yank!!

 ;D

..the restrictions are in place on the "50s" to comply with certain country's, state's etc.. laws, governing un-registered and/or un-licensed and/or un-insured motor vehicles...

..they must not run over a certain mph in many places, and most scoots are set up (restricted) to run do just that...

..i just tripped 50,000 km on my 2008 a50, and i reckon if she throws a rod tomorrow, i gots my money's worth of machine...
