Title: Service Wth A Smile
Post by: Gnzbrg on May 23, 2018, 05:34:22 PM
Been doing the maintenance on my new Like 200i, and am very pleased with how easy it's been.  Changed the oil at 100 miles, and now at 200 miles just successfully adjusted the valves and changed the gear oil.  Many thanks to all those forum members who post "tutorials" (and to YouTube).  An easy job made simple by learning the right way BEFORE ya start...

I hope you used just the amount of 180ml gear oil (three 60ml Syringe fillings) and didn´t fill up to the filler hole... ;) :)

Nope, I did it the right way.  180/60 = "Three squirts and I'm done"...

The GY6 engines are always pleasant to work on and I've been particularly impressed with how the Like is put together. Quite a few aspects put my previous Suzuki to shame. My only criticism of this type of engine is the poor oil filter situation, but you can't have it all.

As a quick post script: just got in my new Cyclepedia service manual yesterday.  Bought the printed version.  635 pages of pure knuckle bustin' joy, and the pictures to prove it.  $38 to the door.  Wow.

Aaahhh I see, that kind of guy you are. ;D Sounds somehow familiar to me but  it never came to my mind to call it an oil change.  ;D

Like an old lifeteaching saying: "If you grease well, you speed well"  ;) ;D

Did the valves need adjustment?

Did the valves need adjustment?

Intake was spot on, exhaust slightly tight.   Will check 'em again at 600 miles.
