Title: Almost met a Helix rider!

I'm gassing my Piaggio at BP, in pulls a middle-aged lady on a Helix. I wave to get her attention. She might have waved back, then trots up to the door of the station. Reads something on the door, trots back to her Honda, hops on and nearly pulls into traffic as she departs.

OK - took me a minute....
The station door has a big handwritten sign - "NO public restrooms!"

I was going to tell her about the Tim Hortons just back the other way... nice restrooms. But she was history by then.

Slim pickins 'round these parts!
This is scooter #4 I've seen in the past 3 years. (a pristine Elite; a banged up Burgman 400; a skinned Reflex; and this Helix - tracked down and talked to each of the first 3 owners)

For sport I watch street videos of Paris and Rome - just to see the scooters.

Post by: big blue on May 23, 2018, 05:12:22 PM: Very much so Ophelia, I was out yesterday and saw a couple of Vespas (modern) and a Honda SH150i as well as an 80s Honda Elite. There ARE a lot of Harleys in Oregon but the scooter lovers are well represented. ;)

Post by: Gnzbrg on May 23, 2018, 05:52:42 PM: I've witnessed pockets of heavy scooter activity in New Orleans, NYC, and the Tampa Bay area. All the "cool kids" got 'em... But down here in deep rural Alabama I'm still considered a circus freak.

Well, you can if ya WANT to... As they say 'round here: "Cain't be no diddly-doo"! And yeah, it's L.A. alright. Could hit Florida with a golf ball if I got the right breeze.
