Title: Fitted a power cable for my GPS
Post by: PaulF on April 19, 2018, 10:35:25 AM
What a pain in the rear end, removing panels and trying not to break clips just to get to the front so I could feed the power cable from the mirror to the battery.  Motorcycle mechanics must hate working on scooters.  At least now it is done and working well.

Good job. Nice.
Now please tell me about fitting the Vespa mirrors to your LIKE.
It has been years since I fitted my Italian FAR mirrors to my LIKE. The Kymco mirrors have a smooth, non-threaded tip....while the Vespa mirrors are threaded 8mm....and reversed on my left Liberty mirror.
So, what steps did you take?
Is there less vibration from the thicker (stems) Vespa mirrors?

Thanks, Stig

I just unscrewed the Kymco mirrors and screwed in the Vespa mirrors with no problems at all.  The Vespa mirrors sit wider so you get to see more road and less of your own body plus they have higher quality glass in the mirrors so the view is better.  I have not noticed any vibration.  The only bad point with the Vespa mirrors is that there is hardly any left to right adjustment in the mirror head so you need to set the view right when fitting them.

Nice job, PaulF! Plastic panels WILL make you think bad words!

They certainly did Carl but now that I have done it once it will be so much easier next time.  Just wish that they had full panel removing instructions available.  I was glad to use some of Stig's photos for my headlight and taillight replacement because without them it would have been very hard.

How are you listening to the turn-by-turn direction? BT communicator?

I have the gps connected to my phone and the headset I use is the Sena 3S-W.  I have my music loaded onto the Garmin gps so I can have songs going softly in the background as I ride.  With the headset I can also just use my phone with that as well.  I like using the gps because I can plot a bit of a fun ride with it.
