Kymco is dropping the People GT300i for 2018...
-
Just checked Kymcousa.Com and you are right, Budz. Too bad. Good bike....
-
Didn't sell well at all. People complained about the price.

I saw videos and advertisements for the 2018 People GTI 300.
If Kymco drops this scoot, it will be a major mistake.
-
That is entirely believable, Boo. Would not be the first time Kymco dropped the coordination ball.

It's also not available in Australia. Been replaced by x-town 300i and downtown 350i.

I suppose that it's possibly driven by a move towards more "sportbike" type scoots, and away from the old 50's Vespa-style ones, which are really considered toys here in the US, and not serious bikes. If only people knew.
I went to the grocery today, bought some stuff, and a bunch of college kids followed me out with their weekend beer. One of them loudly snickered, "oh it's a moped..." So I stopped dead in my tracks, turned and asked "any of you ever heard of a 400cc moped that needed a license plate?" That pretty much shut them up. Immediately followed by stares when I started it up...

Yeah. Not just the young are hung up on cc's....☺
My first vehicle was a new white Honda 90. Wife and I rode that great bike all over New England back roads.
Out to dinner with our helmets on, she in miniskirts.
She put flowers on the bike.
Had too much fun to give a thought about engine size....still don't. (sold newish Burg 400 for a 150 Piaggio ☺)

I see on Cycle Trader that the dealers are starting to drop prices on "new" leftovers. Still way too much; by the time you throw in taxes and "fees" you're in used Vespa or small motorcycle territory... No wonder they don't move well here in the States.
