Title: Anyone -- the new LIKE150/ABS ??
Post by: Stig / Major Tom on April 09, 2018, 01:57:18 AM
Has anyone in N America seen one yet?
If so, what state, what is the OTD price?
Photos?

Seen, sat on and pretty sure both local dealers have one.
Not sure on OTD price, around here on new models those tend to be pretty much MSRP for at least  a while.

Saw and sat on one last year at the Barber Vintage fest.

Seemed like a great scooter especially for the price but a little cramped for taller riders.

Cleveland Moto got one in and did a video:

WELL ALRIGHT !!

They're here!
Out of the box.
On the dealer's floor!
We've been waiting two years for this.
I encourage all to take a look at the video shot at the Cleveland dealer just a few days ago.
This is a very impressive scooter. Lots of cool things on the Vespa-looking dash (and we haven't seen the interactive Noodoe dash show up in there yet. 2019, maybe?) Two wheel ABS, EFI, LEDs makes for an impressive package.

At $2600 you could slip a set of Pirelli Angels, or Michelin City Grips on the scoot and still have it at a great price. (buy the tires and negotiate free installation into the scooter purchase)

Thanks for the link to the video, Klaviator....and yeah, ar 6'3" I've learned to ride my first generation LIKE without giving it a thought after 5 years.
FYI: the LIKE150i is rated at 13.4 HP with 8.7 ft lb torque - the new Piaggio Liberty 150 with the 155cc 3V iGET engine is rated at 12.8HP and 9.4 ft lb torque.

There ya go.
Seattle Cycle has 'em.
Also apparently has some spare red plastic and mechanicals for em.

Kinda like the gray here...(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180412/a5d502c261391ee7d5979526b3616222.jpg)

I like alot of this new design....only wish the whole bar, dash and headlight area was a little more sleek. Looks thick & bulky...but maybe better in person.
Thanks for the pix.

sorry, but it looks like a very bad copy of a Vespa...

It appears in photos to still have that lower front panel, which is easily removed for valve adjustment and spark plug installation.
Cool beans....no dropping the engine likeon  a Vespa.

If that's a bad thing I'll take the copy.  8)

Hah, I remember being berated for my copy of a Honda when I was a bit younger - the difference being that my "copy" had an electric start, DC lighting, heated grips and all those goodies that make winter commutes tolerable.

I try to take each bike on it's merits. I doubt we'll get the Like 150i in the UK. 150s aren't sold by anywhere it seems :(

If I hadn't bought an Smax last year the Like 150i would be at the top of my list along with the Liberty 150.  The Like seems like a much better deal but I fit on the Liberty much better.

Yeah, I  called the local Vespa dealer about the new Liberty. He said they had just received a couple, they were still boxed but they were "pretty darn busy"  with their motorcycles. I drove over, and convinced a salesman that I wasn't just window shopping. He had a guy forklift the crates out into some open floor space. The salesman opened the cardboard top and under some bubble wrap we saw the blue Liberty150i. I said I'm looking for the red S model only. He grumbled, but opened the next one. Bingo!
He said, "OK, you ready to buy it?"
I said I'm not buying a scooter I haven't sat on.
He grumbled some more, "man we're pretty busy here!",  called over another guy and they began unboxing it, until I could look it over and sit on it.

It fit my 6'3" frame just fine....and was pretty sharp looking, with nice build quality. This being my 4th scooter,  I didn't let them rush me. They wandered off while I  looked at it.
Then tracked him down with my check book  (the $ from selling my Burgman**)
He said, "you just went to the head of the line!"
Two days later they trailered it down the highway to my house.
Justgottascoot.com and Robot (youtube Vespa guru) pre-sold me on it....and the $8 official factory service download proved to me that I could service it.
Only thing left was to look one over and sit one.
It has not disappointed.

New** owner of that nearly new Burgman is presently spending over  1/2 my Liberty's price to service the Burg's CVT.

Seriously? Something big or ?  Those didn't look that tough to do 101 maintenance work on.

Suzy parts aren't cheap, dealer techs aren't cheap. At least the 400's can be repaired. If a 650's CVT goes, game's over.

What do you do with folks who say things like, "Just screams I can't afford a Vespa!"

I think it's closer to 3 grand.

Mostly ignore 'em.  I know a few folks who won't touch any Asian bikes.  Kinda like Harley only riders.
To each their own.
