After my first experience trying to find a helmet with the help of the sales-lady assigned to that area at the local mega-brand cycle shop I went home and used my computer for help.
There are probably lots of these videos....but, this is the one that I used years ago to find a good fitting helmet.
I do not feel that it is possible to buy a perfect fitting helmet on-line. You certainly can buy them on-line - but I believe that the fitting must take place in a shop.
I did the "wear it around the shop for 20 mins" thing to make sure it was a comfortable fit.
Altogether, I spent a couple of hours finding my XXXXL, long-oval, modular helmet.

I have a very large long oval head, and the same problems finding helmets that fit. Two years ago, I saw that BELL was making a "CUSTOM FIT" helmet, and I knew it was my last chance at having a helmet that fits. They Laser Scan your head and then make the helmet for your head. I bought one and it fits PERFECTLY !!! It's very expensive 1k, but, it's the cheapest helmet I could find that fits!! ( Yes I tried an AIRAI , it didn't fit.) The helmet is a FF, Carbon Fiber, and comes with a transitional shield ( I love the shield, no more sunglasses), and extra clear shield, and a nice helmet bag. I don't regret spending this money, this is the first helmet I have ever owned that fits perfectly, and I have been riding since 1967. Go to the BELL HELMET website and check it out.

How/where did they scan your Head Snowdog? (BTW is the moniker a Rush reference?)

I've been wearing the same brand of helmet for quite a few years now (THH, if you're asking) because the fit is always spot on. I must have a Taiwanese-shaped head.

I just recently replaced the helmet which I bought when I first got the Like 200i LX. It was an HCI model 15 in the exact colors of the Like blue/white. Unfortunately that combo was no longer available although the helmet model is. I started looking for another helmet and found one on the Cycle Gear site a BILT blue/white 3/4 helmet w/face-shield. Because we have a local Cycle Gear store I was able to get the good online price but got to try it on because the fitting charts online do not always work for your head shape. It turns out the new helmet fits great and is an improvement over my old one. ;)

The helmet pictured is my new one. Here's a pic of the old one.... It seems that the life span for helmet designs is about 5-6 years.

Pretty cool helmets.
