Title: 2008 500 e seat latch

Hi all. My seat latch wont open with turning key in ignation.  Devil of a time getting it open. I am at it now and would like to know how it works. No info in manual.  Thanks in advance. R. B

It may be like the DT300i if you can reach the rear of the ignition switch, feel or see the cable coming out the bottom of the switch, get your hand around the cable housing (black) and pull housing away from switch body. Should release catches after a few really bad words.....

Sometimes pushing down on the seat while turning the key may help.

I had to take the grabrail off. Then the centre plastic above the rear light (carefully!) before I could see the locks. From there it was easy to ping the locks open (I had a snapped cable on the r/h lock)

Snorvey, my method will not work on a snapped cable, will it! Do you have any theory how such a light duty cable can snap?

I can confirm that it most definitely does not! Although.....

.....It's possible that your method might have worked in my case if I had reached far enough into the bowels of the scoot and took hold of the cable further up. My cable had snapped either at, or pretty close to the plastic 1 to 2 cable splitter at the front of the bike.

It snapped because it was corroded and probably stretched.

Get the seat open, fix the cable and fit a hidden 'failsafe' in case it happens again!
