I purchased a 2016 Kymco Like 200i and love his little thing. Living only two miles from work, the commute on this little scooter is great with the gas mileage. Guys at work gave me a ton of crap for getting it but I didn't care. Lol.
I have only one issue with this scooter. It bogs down as I'm riding it. Literally the scooter almost dies out. Hate it! I have to give it more gas in order for it to quit acting up. I've taken it back to the dealer and of course they can't find anything wrong with it. Yet with me it does it everyday I ride it.

Welcome fellow LIKE200i rider.
Bogging to the point of dieing is not acceptable....any bogging at all is ridiculous for this scooter model. The LIKE has no recurring drive-ability problems as you describe. None.
It tolerates all temperatures and crap - to premium fuels....incl. ethanol laced blends.
Give your dealer another chance to witness this problem.....then give your area Kymco customer rep. a call or an email.

Hi and welcome! These scoots are bulletproof so make sure your dealer has the factory scanner to find the issue. The bike should start, run and perform well without bogging. They need to call the factory reps to cure your problem. Enjoy your new ride. ;)

I agree with the other posters here. Something is wrong. Stay with it till you get it fixed. At present, you are not getting the pleasure and joy the Like can offer. They have a reputation for being good machines.

I own two 2013 Likes and I recently found a practically new red 2014 Like for my older brother. My LX has over 4K miles and my wife's has close to 4K miles. Neither of them have any kind of runnability issues. They should start, idle and accelerate smoothly. If your dealer can't find the problem, either call the Zone rep or find another dealer who can fix the issue. Don't settle for the "we can't duplicate the problem in our shop" story.

Howdy and welcome! Totally out of character for that or any other Kymco scoot. Await your response concerning your dealer. We have some options for you if needed.

Welcome David. You have one of Kymco's best. In fact I'd go so far, as to say, I don't know anybody who doesn't like the Like. Sound like a fuel related issue and probably a simple fix. If your dealer isn't trying to help you, report him the Kymco USA. Maybe not so much the dealer, but Kymco wants your bike to perform at 100% like they designed and built it to. You get a factory rep involved and problem solved.

Even though these bikes are not know for great top end speeds much over 60 they're screamers around town....little hoolligan bikes. Don't expect to pop a wheelie though.

Go back to the dealer. Bogging should not be an issue. I had my Like 14,000+ miles and never did it bog. It died several times, but that was due to a lost connection at the starter motor.

Love the responses in here. I will let you all know what happens. I do plan on taking it back probably next week. I've realized that as it boggs down, there is a slight pop that comes out of the exhaust and then it accelerates on its own if I don't twist the throttle to do it myself. Spark plig wire on the plug tight?
Please pull it off and "click" it back on.
Right side, above dipstick area...golden hex head screw with ring terminal "ground" wire to frame secure? These have loosened under vibration.
Or, what could cause fuel pump to shut off and back on while underway?
My throttle position sensor failure was characterized by a big engine stumble at one certain, and steady, speed of @30mph. All other demands from throttle were flawless.
Thinking out loud here.....that exhaust pop makes me think fuel or spark is being momentarily interrupted.
Our ethanol laced fuels has put an end to water in our fuel lines, yes?
But water would not keep repeating....once gone, it's gone. .?

Hey Stig. Well keep in mind it's pretty much done this since I bought it only it wasn't as bad then. Now it seems to have progressed. I haven't had a chance to take it in yet but I'm going to try this weekend. It has also been in for the first 600 mile service. I let them do it so they couldn't say I caused whatever problem it's having.

Yep, I'd agree w Stig, it's not water...
Possibly a cap malfunction, a defective vacuum pump, or a cdi box getting warm ?
How many miles on it ? Is it too quiet? Backed up muffler ?
Perhaps incorrect float setting if it's got a carb...

It has less than 700 miles on it and it's bone stock with no mods.

Well I finally got it over to the shop and this time I let a buddy ride it over so he could feel the issue. Well he felt it plenty of times.
Of course the shop claims to have felt nothing whatsoever. Go figure! They changed the plug again for giggles and still they felt nothing. I told them that if it continues I may have to seek legal advice due to it being somewhat new and under 1K miles. They kept it four more days and rode it around for about 30 miles. Still nothing. To me it feels like the idol has been slightly increased. Because of that, I no longer have the issue.
Runs just fine now so I guess I'll leave it be.

It's a good model Kymco.....one of their best sellers.
Sorry you had issues with it, and with the dealer.
Problem I had with the mechanics was a listening issue....no matter the detailed description I gave....they got on it, hammered the throttle, or let it idle for awhile. Neither of those revealed the issue, of course.
Anyway , glad it is resolved for you.

I've found that the broken record technique works, to some degree. They finally get tire of hearing your story and seeing your face and figure out that it will be better to just fix the dang thing, than to put up with you. It's a shame that it has to be that way, sometimes. You can also contact a Kymco rep if all else fails. Believe it or not, but Kymco doesn't appreciate the dealers that treat THEIR customers that way. This information and a couple of bucks will get you a great cup of Joe down at Tom's coffee shop.
