...that's one hott scoot...
..looks like a japanese hornet....
-
I hate the color. The white one though is pretty Teh Sexy.
.
-
I agree, the white looks muuuuuuch better. Doesn't seem to be much storage though.
-
...lol..wear a backpack like th' sport-bikers!!!
..that scoot is awesome...

I want STORAGE, however if you carry my backpack on days like today I can possibly reconsider my assessment. :D
-
...dang...i dunno...
..what would be in it?...
-
I buy and maintain said scoot while you get free rides and a chance to lose some weight. Hows that, do we have a deal? ;)
-
...don't need to lose any weight...
..so, i reckon i'll pass till i hit th' lotto....
..then, imma import me one of those....
-
Sounds good. I have to get back on my bike, I need to lose a few lbs myself especially after this weekend. :)
-
As I already said, the prices went up (a paradox in current state of economy), so Kymco does not have that good price competitiveness as it did in the past.
Direct consequence is that a number of models are not imported anymore in my country because there would be no market for them.
I guess the same could happen go this GTi 300 (People 250i/300i is not imported either).
-
...good visuals...
:o

A bit Corny for me.
-
...yeah, it's corny :o ..'specially at the end...
..but that's what makes it cool!!
;D

1. Why one disc in the front? It was the selling point before that P250S had two front discs.
2. Narrow and slanted seat is a big no no. They should investigate a bit more what does proper seat look like (Scarabeo or Beverly)
3. Too small, almost non existing windshield. P250S had just about OK mid sized windshield.
4. 300i cc engine, but with 200-250 cc power. Why? Why not the same engine as in Downtown 300i?
5. I am under impression that under seat storage is even smaller than on 250i.
-
Noticed that the Kymco USA website now list the People GT300i. This model really interests me, and seems to have comparable specs to the Honda SH300i that is so popular in Europe.

WHERE'S THE BLOODY WHITE ONE, KYMCOUSA?!!!
.
-
Basically an updated p250s. Updated power-plant and re-worked plastics is nice but otherwise your loosing the dual-disc front brakes and less windshield. Don't know if any storage loss!
Hard for me to justify one since I already own a p250s.
Maybe a Downtown 300i or Xciting 500 will be my next upgrade someday.
Until then I'm still having a blast on my p250s! :)
-
I've already decided my next scooter will not be a Kymco.
On July 11, I will explain why.
.
-
I'll be interested to hear why, other than your bad fortune with your P250.

hmmm. ok. Ordinarily I would ask why the suspense, just tell us now. But I assume you have your reasons. Best. I am still in the air between the People 300 GTIi and a Suzuki Burgman 400. There are clear tradeoffs here. If SYM was still viable, I like the Citycom too. But given their history and limited dealer network, I don't think I care to chance it.

Does anyone know when they will be at the dealers in the US? I sure would like to check this one out.

I don't know, but I'm waiting on a 2012 Super 8 and the dealer says they should be here in the middle of July. we will see. Super 8s are sold out until the '12 models arrive.

I've put of a deposit and have on on order since the middle of June. No word yet from the dealer on when they are expected to come in.
-
what is the purpose of waiting til the 11th.?
do we all hold off on purchases til then?
" something in your home may well kill your children tonite, tune in tomorrow to find out what you could have done if i had told you sooner"lol
-
well?
todays the 11th.

Right you are!
My next scooter will likely be a Genuine, for the sole reason that they are the only importer with whom I have first-hand experience that does not treat its dealers like sh!t, and seems to actually care about the customers' experience with the brand, rather than saddling the dealer with the total management of the customer experience, post-sale.
More to come.
.
-
you'll have to downsize.
is it the 170i or the blur?
or a 150?
inquiring minds want to know!
-
Yeah, and more on just how Kymco treats their dealers like sh!t... ???

I'm not ready for a new scoot just yet, so I'm not sure what it will be... I just know what it won't be, and that would be any Kymco.

Jprestonian,
Thanks for the head's up. I think I will go ahead and cancel my order on the GT300i and get my deposit money back. Thanks.

Not sure I would put much stock in one isolated incident. I know of dealers that have a good relationship with Kymco and are happy with thier dealings with them.

Nobody EVER mentioned that this is what GTi 300's under seat storage looks like:
WTF
??? :o :-X
-
The ONE disadvantage over the other Peoples! :-\ I still think it's my next scoot. Too bad i'll have to add a more substantial windscreen and a huge topbox. More $$$. Here's hoping my scoot lasts until the GTi 300 is available used!
-
I would never buy it because of this. It is pure stupidity. There is no excuse.
-
What was Kymco thinking? A scooter with little to no room under the seat. I would second the opinion that I would not buy it just because of that.
-

Why wouldn't you buy another Kymco?
-
I hate the styling on this scoot and now after seeing the lack of storage under the seat i woudnt buy it .......

I don't like the way they treat their dealers, or their customers. The only company whose dealings I have been impressed with is Genuine Scooters, Chicago. Hopefully, they'll decide to make a bit larger scoot in the near future. I'm leaning towards them.

I actually love the looks of it -- the first time I can say that about a People model! Still, not buying another Kymco.

I like the way it looks - except for the color choices of black, gold or grey. My preference would be white or red, with blue, yellow or green being ok. I just want to be more visible.

Yeah. They teased us with photos of the white one for a year... and then don't bring it into the U.S. W.T.F.?

Sounds more like sour grapes with your dealer losing their Kymco franchise. I don't see that dealer listed on Kymco's dealer locator any more.
I had to edit out an extra o in losing. Just old and in too big of a hurry. ::)

Very much so, yes. But you should see if your dealer has ever been reimbursed for warranty service from KymcoUSA. Or find out if it took six months for KymcoUSA to replace an obviously defective bike for your dealer's customer. You might be surprised.
And, it's "losing," btw.
.
-
My dealer got me a new underbelly under warranty because I realized mine was cracked. It was quick and painless.
-
My dealer is very high on Kymco. They have sold around 10 kymco scooters in the last couple of months. They just got in 5 more and have more on order. Obviously they have a very good working relationship with Kymco USA.
There are around 675 Kymco dealers in the USA. I would say most are happy with their franchise. Don't see that many negative responses on the net.

Well, you folx should do what your experiences tell you is right to do, just as I am. And again, no more Kymco for me.
It's not just that KymcoUSA pulled out of Nashville's "Best Place to Buy a Scooter," but the yearly head gasket issues with my People 250, and KymcoUSA's refusal to pay the shop for the initial warranty repair on the issue (which the shop covered -- on a bike not even BOUGHT from them!).
Nope. Y'all buy what you want, but my next one's a Genuine, or a Honda.

Ok....That's fine! Buy a Genuine scooter when they decide to get a 250cc+ scoot in the US. I have no problem with that @ all. Genuine makes a damn fine scoot, no question.
It's funny...My local dealer (Cyles 128 in Beverly, MA.) took on Kymco one year after they came to into the US market. The owner loves KYMCO! Please keep in mind that he owns 4 motorcycle/scooter & Yamaha marine dealers within the Boston area. I'm fairly tight with him & he said that Genuine, SYM & others came calling & he had to say no to all of them. He said...."Alex Kymco has a 90%-95% fill rate on parts & we have very few issues with their product"
I don't know why your dealer had issues with Kymco, but if you're not a "Kymco" person @ this point.....move on & leave these forums.
-
I live in Chicago and have heard nothing but good things about Genuine, however I still am hoping to pick up a 300GTI early next spring. I may even buy the gold!

In my opinion, that scooter and that color is looking odd, i like the black color bikes more and more. Today these color bikes are becoming more popular and try to change the buy the best bike, which is looking more stylish.
