Hello
I bought kymco people 250, 2004. It runs perfectly, but it has one malfunction. The starting clutch is making strange noises. It hapennes only when I am starting the engine, after that everything is working fine.
My question is, does anybody had problem with it ?

My 2007 has not exhibited this; no. Is it a grinding sound, as if the gear that engages the flywheel is worn or misaligned?
Do you have a local Kymco dealer?

Hello
Well, the sound is not like you would try to change a gear in a car without the clutch pushed, it is more like gear teath hits another teath. My quess is that the starting clutch is worn out, and the friction between it and the gear is to small(28120->28110, check the image).
Thats the problem, my local kymco dealer is saying that they dont have parts for this model, because Kymco People 250 have never been offered in my country(I am from Poland by the way). So right now I am looking for other possibilities, as far I know, those engines have been built with close cooperation with Honda, so maybe I`ll find this part from some Honda model.
Anybody know, where those engines were mounted, besides kymco people ?

Has the clutch issue been diagnosed by a mechanic?? Worn clutches slip , does that happen when you accelerate?

Starting clutch?? Now that I think about your description are you talking about the starter motor staying engaged?? If so remove the starter and have it rebuilt..There arent any specific parts for it..The shop will measure and use parts that are made to that measurement.. Let a professional give you the final word on the problem..You can always order the parts from a dealer here in the USA and take advantage of the currency spread ...

I opened starting motor, and everything is in perfect condition.
Dont have to ask professionals, couse I am supose to be one :P Just graduated mechanical engineering ;)
This weekend I am going to open engine from the side, and check what is going on there. You are right, probably Ill order part from USA, dollar is so cheap for me nowadays ;D
Ill give report after checking it.
