Can anyone on this forum tell me what battery will fit my 2012 Kymco DT 300? If you go to the Yuasa web site and ask what battery fits the DT 300 you will get YT12-BS or a YTX12-BS. NOT SO! those Yuasa batteries are one (1) inch to tall. Neither the owner's manual or the , so called, Service manual will tell you anything, except it takes a 12v 10A battery. Any help will be appreciated.

I´m sure you will find one here that fits. :)

Just in case it has to be a Yuasa and nothing else... ;)

I measure the battery box , then go on line with that, and take your pick of all the batterys that fit

Yep, I agree....or measure old battery. I measured stock battery, then went to YUASA ,and found much more powerful battery only 5mm taller than stock. Trimmed 5mm off of battery hold-down posts under battery cover....slipped in the new YUASA! Secure 20°F winter starts when I'm out in the boonies.

Thanks guys. I discovered that Yuasa called for on the Yuasa web site for the Kymco DT 300 is a YTX or YT 12-BS, but it doesn't fit the box. It's 1 inch to tall at 5&1/8". However the Yt12A-BS does fit as it is 4&1/8 inches tall. That "A" the web site left out is what caused so much trouble and two trips to town. So if anybody wants a Yuasa Battery for their DT or GT 300 the number is YT12A-BS. With all that said, I wound up buying a Duracell, gel battery for $100. plus tax. Came with a 2 year free replacement warranty. Moral of this story is that you can't always believe everything you see on the web.

I really hate to drag this discussion back to batteries, but: One thing I've noticed about the DT 300, and it may apply to all Kymcos, but this engine needs to spin fast in order to start. Also the problem I was having with the engine some times wanting to die after it's first started, is completely gone. All of this tells me than a strong battery is a must for my DT. The battery than came in the scooter when I purchased it, was weak. Would be interesting to hear if other DT/GT owners have experienced this.
Thanks for your replies.

You are on to something there, Mac. Both DT300i's here normally start after the second crank revolution, bogging after the first rev. This is first when new and there after indicating a marginal battery application. Concluding from posts about the 500's the same design philosophy runs through the brand. Only worse in the 500's. My conclusions, worth what ya paid for! Lithium and better made lead-acid the way to go judging from other's results.

You are so right Karl, but I paid $100. for my gel battery. I 'm afraid to think what a Lithium Ion would cost.

$50-$100 more depending on where you got it.

I payed €79,- in April 2015 for my Shido YTX9-BS LION -S- battery from a local battery dealer. Gave me a 34% discount. ;D
A Shido LT12A-BS LION -S- battery might be available for a little under €100,-. E.g. from Amazon.
The LiFePo4 batteries are not that expensive anymore nowadays.
