I'm pretty sure that I saw my first 50cc scoot on the road today.
2 yrs ago saw a pink Vespa which might have been a 50.
But today a gray bearded old guy followed me through traffic on his cream and blue Honda Metropolitan.
I pretended to need to stop at the Post Office with him, so we could chat scooters.
He's had it for 2 yrs, only 1200 miles on it. NOT a DUI 50cc rider....
.Ohio doesn't have that 50cc loop hole in our licensing laws.
Tried to broach the subject of helmet and gloves....but he wasn't interested.
He rode off in his fishing hat....
That I would post this gives you an idea of how scarce scooters are in my burg.
Tried to get a snap of him behind me.....but you guys have seen a guy on a Met......

I have seen a few metropolitan scooters. I have seen customized metro's with 150cc motors. The wheel sticks out behind the cut out fender. The one that I see the most, other than Chinese Tao Tao scooters and the like, are the Honda Ruckus'. The kids mod them out or just run them stock. A fun looking little ride. I am just not that brave.

Proud to say that one of my former students has a Metropolitan, and it was mainly because of all my scooter stories I would tell them in class. She loves it, so at least I got one more out there riding a scooter!

Heard of someone dropping a 600cc Honda Silverwing engine in a Ruckus. The SW can easily top 100 mph. Now that's a scary thought. Make a nice drag scooter.

The first scooter I rode was a Honda Met, as I would rent one for PLP, and riding in city traffic to prep for my BRC. Had a blast with it.
