Title: Mixing Tires ??

Well, I know you are not supposed to mix tire brands or treads, front to rear.
Yes, but I'm thinking that only applies to those who are riding at 7/10th to 10/10th's.
Me, I ride at more like 3/10 > 5/10th's. Unless a passing car hits the donut in my hand - I'm in no danger of scraping anything on self or scooter when I corner.
I'm in no hurry - wet or dry.

I don't have ABS - so my braking is already very personal, not automated or enhanced.
In a massive, massive emergency, on any tire, I'll probably lock the rear and slide on my side as is the custom....but hope not.

I'm running a Michelin City Grip with 11,000+ miles on the front (plenty of tread and still deep rain grooves)
and a new Michelin Power Pure on the rear of my LIKE200iLX.

I'm cheap. Next year I'll swap off the City Grip for a new P.Pure.

I don't think I'm being unsafe. Your thoughts?

People say you shouldn't but people do it without problems it depends on the situation. Mixing radials and bias might be another issue. One of the guys on the Burgman 650 forum likes the Bridgestone front with Michelin rear. The new to me Aprilia Atlantic 500 still has the original front Maxxis tire with a Shinko rear. I figure when I have the money i'd probably switch to the Michelin City Grips (a good looking tire I think).

2011 downtown,   front tire 120/80  14 " power pure  rear tire 150/70  13 "  city grip ,  works very well for me!!!

Heck one of the old favs in the B650 crowd was to mix an OEM TH01 (Michelin) with a different brand that lasted a bit better than the OEM rear.
That and darksiding.  Reports on both were pretty good; albeit I'm sure there are probably some combos that are not.

Haven't really done it myself, but then I was always OK with OEM and am currently running some bias ply Shinkos so have kept 'em matched.

I was riding with stock front and the Power Pure on the back of my like for 6 months no issues not like mixing dark and light alcohol

I regularly mix tires but I am most careful about the quality/performance of the front. Of course, I do look for similar tread patterns for both. (Not mixing nobbies with slicks as an extreme example)
