Motorcycle.ohio.gov sent me a couple of emails recently. One asked me to consider being an instructor for a MSF course, the other was this one:

I thing in some stats that was the worse law they ever made was wear you can ride with out a helmet...If your going to ride. Ride safe and put on a helmet.....

I hear stories like this all the time here in Vegas. I always make sure I wear my helmet.

When I started riding , in the 50's, there were no helmet laws so it took some time for me adjust. There were also not nearly as many cages on the road and cell phones were only seen in the Flash Gordon and Dick Tracey movies. As I've grown older, I can surely see the need for head protection. It falls right in there with seat belts in cages. You really can't over do safety.

I think you'd make a great instructor as a part time gig as long as you're able to deal with the little "snot nosed know it alls" who think they are accident proof and don't need safety equipment. There's always ONE in every class. In the class I took, he was one who dropped the bike a couple of times. Lol.

And yes I was saved by my helmet. My helmet hit something hard enough to cause the chin strap to dig into my chin enough to where I needed 3 stitches. I can only imagine what would have happened had my bare head hit that object. Also, the gravel that scratched the top of my helmet would likely have mutated my bald head.
