Title: Diesel & rain on the road
Post by: Stig / Major Tom on March 31, 2017, 08:08:20 PM
Darn glad I was not out riding in the rain on my scooter this morning.
I was sitting at a light in my truck at an intersection I routinely ride through on my scooter. Pouring rain.

I watched 3 cars from my left turn on to my lane in front of me - all three of the cars slid out, as though they were on snow or ice! Back tires fish-tailing, etc.
The 3 cars were not driving too fast & each quickly recovered in the rain.
Light turned green for me, and I smelled a hint of diesel as I passed through that same area of road. Absolutely no visible hint of diesel on the road.....I looked hard.

Don't think I learned anything new, here. I know roads are slippery in the wet - esp. first few mins of a rain, etc.   Oil, diesel, sand, gravel, leaves = loss of control, skin & paint.
