Man... Havent rode my People 50 2t for a couple weeks. Got it started and noticed it was very low on gas. Took it up to the gas station, filled her up. Took the most gas ive ever put in it. Brought it back home for a few hours and when I went to go take off for a ride noticed a puddle of gas on the garage floor. I was concerned at first but thought maybe I just over filled it and was leaking because it was on the kickstand instead of the main stand. Rode it over to my moms (about a 40 min ride) and when I got here it was still leaking gas just above exhaust(dripping on the exhaust). Some kind of round fuel line junction box dont really know what it is. Maybe where the oil is mixed in. Anyways its dark and im sort of pissed, started drinkin so I'll take a better look at it tomorrow in the daylight.
-
...if you could take a pic that would be awesome, but it sounds like maybe in the area of the fuel pepcock....
..might be cracked, or a tear in the fuel hose...
..fuel filter cracked??
..check all those...

Lol. Guess what smell I woke up to this morning. Literally the whole house smells like gasoline. I usually dont mind the smell but damn this is horrible. I left it outside most of the night but I had to bring it in the garage at some point. Im callin the dealer this thing is only 2 1/2 months old!
-
I love the smell of napalm in the morning! lol
-
Just called scooternerds (my dealer) they told me to bring it in today and they might get to it next week. This is total BS I have spend good money on this bike and they can't even tell me when they can fix it. FXXX that I'll fix this thing myself. >:(
My job is installing automotive lifts. If I install a lift and it starts leaking hydraulic oil we drive up to 4 hours back to where the customer is and fix the problem asap. We tell the customer when we will be there. This is the right way to do business not I'll get to it when I get to it!
Sorry guys just venting
-
..we've all felt your pain from time to time...
:-\
..vent away bro!!
-
Ya that aint right, might want to put in a complaint, call kymco usa.We don't need these guys reprisenting kymco. It is probably an easy fix pull the seet bucket 4 bolt all lifts out and have a look.
-
Yea I plan on fixing it tomorrow. Got to ride out to my dads where all the tools are. I hope its just a hose or something simple. I'll let you guys know what I find.
-
Cool!It is just 4 10mm bolts
-
Fixed it. Gas was leaking from the fuel filter. Has a round bowl on the bottom that screws off. The o-ring looked to be in good shape so I just screwed it back on real tight and that fixed the problem. I guess it just wasnt tight enough. I Attached some pics of the fuel filter.
-
The whole filter comes off with two 10mm nuts.
-
Nice you ready for some mods?
-
Absolutely. I can't wait. I Just have to get a little money set aside. Business is rough right now. It's starting to pick up again though. I want to start with a tecnigas pipe and maybe a performance air box. If I can make it do 50 I will be happy for now. The big bore kit will be a year or two down the road.
-
..you won't need a kit to hit 50...or a pipe...the free-flow air filter and a 96 jet did it for me...
..hit over 60 actually...oh yeah...
-
Hey pete what year is your bike?
-
..peters430 is a 2009...so...there's th' pipe...
-
I would highly suggest an aftermarkket pipe or a 2004 or older depends on how far you want to go.If going with the kit go for the rs2 from sip great pipe and price will need a carb to make it right. The rs 1 is nice with a pod will need some jets to go with that, some pipes come with and some don't.I think my first came with a #95 it's ok but #105 or more is better, the stock carb is a pain, but can be delt with. With those mods on the 2009 got my brother in law at 250lbs to 50+ almost 55 with me at 200+lbs.beware once you start 60 is around the corner!
-
#95 it's ok but #105 or more is better,
..yup..cuz that pipe don't blow.....
-
Lol my friends call me pete how did you know... Yep its a 2009 at least I think havent got the title yet. Again the dealer is givin me the run around about that too. >:( They are not getting any more of my business. So I'll need to go that big with a pipe and filter. I had no idea I figured a #90 might work.
-
..mine's a 2001, and that seems to have a less restricted exhaust than yours...
..all those emmission standards laws....
..
-
Yep restricted for sure. You should see the pipe on mine I have pics of it under "Desetricting a people 50" post. I can hit 40mph on flat ground or about 39 on the gps. And being a little less than 250lbs myself I struggle up the hills.
-
Sorry wordslinger just realized you were the first one to reply to that post so you already know.
-
..i'm 220...maybe more on some days...lol..
..and, damn...all i did to my 2001 was put on a used k&n and drilled my main jet to a 96...
..there's a big difference in those pipes...wow...
-
..i'm just learning these peoples...pete...lol....
..no need to apologize...
..it seems that from 2005 on, the exhaust has gotten progressively restrictive...
:-\
-
That sucks about the dealer.I voided my warenty within 5 minuts of bringing my 2009 home,It was used with 100 miles on it Ha!But you have a great bike just needs a little fine tuneing Ha! Iv'e put all mine through the test not a lemon yet.The 2009 was a bit more to make it the way I like, mainly the pipe and the cdi the rest is the same, and the new belt info Ha!I hope they gave you the derestricted boss.I think they have been trying to get into the california market so all the restrictions but the rest is a great motor just need to make it breath the way it was ment to.
-
Agreed I want to make it breath better. No they did'nt give me the boss. I noticed a Kymco box under the seat before I bought it. Was'nt in there after I bought it though. Kinda F d up isnt it. The guy did'nt tell me they were gonna try to chage me $250 to derestrict it when I bought it. I thought that was included. What a fool I am. They wanted $40 for the derestricted boss. Ha. I had it machined for $5 by a customer I was doing a job for.
-
cant beat that price, been lucky all mine came with the boss,up here i dont think they assemble without anymore. The local kymco dealer i'm not impressed with,'but lots of competitors that have some parts on hand for me,sip scooters if you get serious about upgrade best prices so for that i have found.
-
Yea I've looked at sip scooters website. Where are they located? Have you ordered parts from them before? What are the shipping costs like? Do you know if their pipes come with rollers or not?
-
...best parts come straight from taiwan....
..i reckon...
-
On the top of the sip page they have a store locater. I believe there are about six shops in the UK. Some pipes will come w/ rollers, but sip has a feature that allows you to buy the also needed parts that will make your pipe do what it is supposed to do. I wish more shops offered this service!
-
Iv'e orderd most my big ticket items from them once i found them and have had no complaints great service and shipping, got a customs bill from my last order for 10 bucks, not there fault. Can take a day or 2 longer depending on your location, they don't ship to the states unless you have over a hundred in parts. My fav on line shop, just don't need a hundred in parts all the time.
