Title: 2015 Super 8R Electronic Speedo Won't Work
Post by: dwbaily on March 17, 2017, 01:11:17 AM
Hey guys. Just got a 2015 Super 8R 4 cycle street scooter. Trying to figure out why the electronic Speedo will not register speed. I get the 0 when sitting still and it shows the miles on the odometer. Rode it for more than a mile and odometer doesn't change and speed stays at 0. Any ideas? Bad Speedo or sensor on wheel? Thanks for recommendations/suggestions.

First thing I would check is the cable going in to the wheel sensor. Make sure it is screwed in or connected well. Second would be the sensor itself.

Thanks for the ideas.  ;) I had taken a look at that sensor.  The wire is molded into it so no real way to check it.  The connector is plugged in good.  I was leaning toward the sensor too since the speedo registers the 0.  The previous rider must have been inside the speedo because when I got it the cover was held on by a ponytail elastic cord. Popped cover off to look inside and all appeared good with exception of a very slight buildup on the motherboard like corrosion.  Almost not noticeable.  Guess I order a $50 sensor and see if that fixes it unless there is something else I need to check first.  Speedo is $100+. Thanks again.

The previous owner may have messed something up while changing the front wheel. I hope its just the sensor. Let us know how things turn out please.

Changed the Speedo sensor. Clattering stopped but Speedo still not working. Stays on 0. Fuel level works and turn signal lights work. The only other thing is the Speedo at $110 I guess.
