..so, don't laugh..k?
;D
..this people 50 has an oil pump...should the fuel in my fuel tank have oil mixed in it??
..spark plug..the Autolite brand i bought (nobody around here has NGK) is @ 1/16" shorter from the end of the threads to the end of the electrode..problem??
..ya'll be patient with me...
:o
-
No, you don't have to mix oil in the fuel as well. Just make sure that your oil pump is calibrated to open at the same time as the carb! There are also alignment marks on the oil pump to make sure it is set right.
I'm not certain about the Autolite plug, my guess it that it will be fine though. I've been using Champion plugs, but I've never compared them that closely to an NGK.
-
...this thing is scary~quick...
..i'm draining the old fuel out now, as it'll run good for a few minutes, then sputter...
..gotta go get me a can of fix-a-flat so i can take it out on the road to pump my tires up to spec...(need me a compressor)...
..should i get some sea-foam stuff too??..probably should...
..it's almost road-worthy!!
-
Ha!cant hurt probably why all the smoke in the beginning ,wont hurt to throw an oz.of oil in the tank while blowing the cob webs out and fine tuning. So what did it take to get going so far.have a top speed yet! Yey!!!
-
...oh, i've just been spurting around in my driveway so far...
..guess it wasa loose connection at the fuse...that's the only thing i messed with...it's even kick-starting now....starter is still on the guilty...
..it keeps wanting to lose rpms when gigging the throttle...let it idle for 30 seconds or so, then it'll pick back up....then it won't rev again....
..any ideas?
-
main jet and air filter, for starters, you said it was getting wet yesterday.Sea foam Ha!Chek for dead rat in the pipe and carbin build up.I'v been running the auto lights lately and a step colder, hasn't been cold starting well.Might have to get an ngk or go up one hotter on the autolight. Those vacume tubes do tend to wear at the fitting.Shoud be doing 50 in no time. ;)
-
...it only has 7450 kms....air filter is clean...airbox got wet because i was flooding it when it wasn't sparking....
..vac tubes look good...i havent dis-assembled the carb...wanted to see whatshe would do before i got that far...
-
Time to open that carb, pull the seat bucket.2 bolts on the carb 2 bolts at the bottem of the airfilter unplug bystarter fuel line carb cap it's outta there!See what jet they threw in it #85 or bigger best so far running stock and the 3/8" hole in air box
-
I'm sure it just needs the carb cleaned out. It's probably not too bad it if runs right now! The first time I fired up my Vento it blew a TON of smoke for quite awhile! That was after I had cleaned the carb! I think there was just old oil and fuel inside the motor that was burning up. Have fun, I'm sure you'll love the 2T! ;)
-
...so, you think i should clean the carb??
..it will idle perfectly...it will rev perfectly...then it will not rev...let it idle for a lil while...then it will rev ok for a while...then it wont..
..it'll idle as long as i want it to at one turn out (service manual spec) of the mix screw...then it may or may not respond to throttle twist...
-
Totally main and needle symptoms
-
Yep, clean the carb and run some seafoam through after.
-
'slinger's gonna clean his carb, and stock up on gasket material. :)
-
...those 24s make some hellacious gaskets!!!!
-
Ha! been making gasket material all day.finally got to start the stock build on the 2005 people.head shave and opened the exhaust port.Throttle responce picked up quite a bit,but cant break that 50 mph yet, running 7G think i need 7.5(The ones i don't have)I'll try some 8g tomarrow To drinked to ride past the driveway :D
-
...yeah, imma wait until in the morning before i tear into the carb...
..it's running...and it's super-quick when it'll rev up...
..i'm a little too far toward that second six to tear into something i've never been into...
..me and my ppl will hit the road tomorrow...that's a "fo sho"...
-
...now, on to my next problem...
..got oil coming out the exhaust...
..rings shot?
???
-
Need some fine tuneing ;D .Who knows what kind of oil has been burnt in it.Got to ride it,then come up with some answers.
-
...all the smoke scared me...my a50 never puffs a cloud...
..i was lookin' like a mosquito sprayer in central georgia on a hot afternoon...
-
..i haven't changed the 3 yr old 2-stroke oil that's in the reservoir..
..reckon i should......
-
Im still trying to burn the crap outa my 2002 so i can go to a full synthetic.I guess I could just drain it,I'm such a cheap basterd!I figured I'd run it for my 100 mile break in Ha!4 tanks of gas still have more than I know what to do with.
-
..yeah, gotta do that break-in thing...lol..
..scoot has 7500 kms...been in storage for nearly 3 tears...thru 10-100 degree temps during this time....
-
It's normal for oil to come out the exhaust. I have to clean my exhaust all the time. Really every time I ride if I was that anal about it!
-
I got a 2005 with 10,000 on it pulled the head, can still see the factory hone, the gal I bought it from never derestricted it,ran belray synthetic,it was a bit gunked up at the pipe. It"s the one I'm doing my stock build on as is.You did derestrict? So far so good,I do have some oversize pistons on order though. If i had some stock rings I would have put them in.They seem to be hard to get.
-
..imma ride it to work in th' morning...
..thr people who live along my path will thank me for calming the mosquitos....
-
It'll clear to some extent pulling the pipe when you got time will be best. There great scoots.
-
..i just go tback from a run...
..it's on the verge of 50 mph indicated ...stock...
..ain't even opened the cvt yet...
-
Thats how my 2002 was,peaked my intrest imedietly!derestricted slightly bigger jet,pushing 50 indicated,about 3 miles an hour generous + ;D
-
..and it get's there so quickly.....
-
..so, my air filter element is coming apart...
..wasn't planning on doing so right now, but imma have to install a free-flow...
..so, typically, what should i look for in a main jet size on a stock engine...
..imma drill it out, so i don't wanna go too big right off the bat...
-
an #85 is a good start if going for that pipe a #95 if doing the squish also #120+ I think Ha!I'm still to lean on the stock build.I do have a couple stock air boxes if you want one probably a waste.
-
...well the deal is, i just had to push it about a quarter mile...
..opened the airbox, and it's full of shredded air filter...damn..gonna have to open that carb after all...
..never been in a 2-stroke carb...
..it'll fire with starting fluid, but i'm not getting fuel from the intake side of the carb when i choke it off with my finger...
..figured i might as well go ahead and open the jet and put the old k&n on it...
-
There very simple,Told ya to look for that dead rat Ha!Get rid of that stupid rubber boot while your at it'Its sopposed to keep your fuel from freezing, don't think you'll be ridding much at 40 below, just seems to collect dirt and get in the way!
-
..well, the 85 jet is waay lean...couldn't get out of the driveway....
..so, given the hour, i wrapped my filter a cpl times with a handi-wipe and electrical tape until tomorrow...
...also installed the NCY kit outta MY guilty and HOLY MOTHER O' GOD!!!
..the stock 8.5 rollers, with the lighter bits of the ncy kit made this thing super-quick!!!
...still kickin' myself in the ass for not buying a ppl instead of the guilty....
..i had a choice...
-
DidnT think the k/n would make that much difference, might have to look at one of those.Never tried with the older stock pipe you might need to jump to a #95 You can also raise that needle a bit, used some gasket material. On my stock build the carb is holding me back right now pilot too lean had to mod the needle to get 2 pieces of gasket material in and my #115 main is still lean.Ya I had a 2007 vino 125 and the people out perfomed it in every aspect,With mods I don't think there are too many scoots out there under 125cc that can keep up.I liked it so much any time i see a complete one under a $700 i buy it.I had 4 sold the 2009 to my sister last week.
-
Just another thought all my tuning has been done here in the damp wet north west.We hit 75 today its a heat wave! All seems to be running leaner with the heat!
-
..it's been in the upper 90's here for over a week....
...oppressive humidity...
-
Well, you got that #150 main in there yet ;D
-
..just finished drilling my jet out to a 96...
..unless something breaks, i'll not touch another thing....
..umm....for a while..just till i put a kit on my guilty...
;D
-
...something broke loose in my exhaust on that run while riding at 55 mph...
..sounded like it took load off the engine, and i could hear the high-pitch two-stroke sound from my exhaust, as well as the carb intake thru the k&n...
..previously, the exhaust sounded a lot like the a50's....
..sea foam rulz!!...
peace
-
It's going to be hard not to,knowing there's more!Hope it works!
-
Ther goes the other half of that rat ;D
-
...it'll run 30 mph over my legal speed limit...with nothing but an air filter and a 96 jet... :o
..i'm good till i get my a50 upgraded... ;D
..i need two performing scooters... ;)
-
Ther goes the other half of that rat
..i know right?!..
..still just over 7500 km...
..i'm stoked!!!...
-
Ha,ya cant wait for the longer belt and ordered a race clutch and bell. The 9g are just a bit heavy got to wait for more parts.Going to california next week to visit.Trying to get my subaru hooked up to bring a scoot with, should be a blast, sold sister and husband a couple scoots recently they live down there.
-
...wow...sounds like a cool vacation...
..you're gonna luv that longer belt..
..it keeps the rpms down a bit...
..the ncy kit i put in has an aluminum drive face...
..less than half the weight of the oem face...
..with the stock 8.5s, the lighter drive face and the longer belt...i love the way this scoot performs...
..just wish it was as comfortable as the a50...
-
Ya thats my only gripe with the people, seet and rear shock got the tires out of the way sorta, got a little rub issue gunna fix when my dremmel shows up,hopeing for a 75 to 80 top,we will see.
-
..i got an extender, that lifts the body 1.5 inches...
..made it for my guilty...
..i'm tempted to try it on the ppl..
..it's an axact fit...
..imma big boy..225lbs, and i got long legs..
..i gotta use the foot pegs to make my feet fit riding the people...
-
hopeing for a 75 to 80 top,we will see.
..i would think that's entirely possible...
-
Never seen the extender hows that work. You got me by a couple lbs.Now for a jell pack in the seet Ha! my back is a major issue,Still like the bigger tires Those 10"ers were killing me on the other scoots.
-
..the a50 has 12 inch tires and whweels....but i do like the hell outta these 16s..
..imma like 'm even better when i replace them with some performance rubber...
:o
-
...raises the shock at the transmission connection...
-
..finished part...
-
Nice i could grind on that all day to shift my shock over a bit.The top is what needs to move the most though but some more travel would be good.Had to get the new hitch installed on the subaru It's going to need some mods, but i aint leaving without a scoot!
-
...take th' scoot!!..take th' scoot!!
:o
-
It's going just got to get the torches out and some more beer! ;D
-
..i',m set for th' night on bud lights...
..gonna order me a pizza...
..keep forgetting..it's only like..6:45 there....
-
Got it mounted the strength is an issue and have 2" receptical that needs to go in a 1 1/2 reciever!Damn details The extra beer will be for tommorow got to get some help from a friend. The bike is GOING!
-
..yeah, i'm fortunate to have all kinds of lathes, drills and metal working equpment at my disposal...
..makes major fab mods an easy thing...
..imma cut the swing-out foot pegs off this junker marshin i got and weld them on my guilty...
-
Ya freind has most the toy's no lathe though and the knowhow.I can do most but the body is my main limmit.Stupid injery's Ha! I can walk and ride SORTA!Ha!
-
..i gots some.... machining skills..that helps...
..ain't gotta explain what i'm wanting to somebody..then hope i get what i have in mind...
-
That helps I was a carpenter by trade.machinest drive me crazy to precise Ha!Took me a week to convince a machinist to hone a clutch bell for an aero 125,Even though it was allready ruined. Then he was woried cause it might be off a couple thousents. It works fine, better than the grooves that were in it anyway
-
..that's the samr situation i had with the ncy kit's torque driver...
..it had never been machined to spec...
..still had the rough tool marks...
