Title: stop rear squeal?

hey guys, just sitting around on a cold, snowy day thinking/dreaming about warmer weather and riding!

something that's bothered me since the day I bought my scoot (People s200)....rear drum brake squeals / squeaks during light to moderate braking. Hard braking is silent, but anything less makes some noise. Scoot has 2200 miles, 7 years old.

I'm assuming the only solution is to remove the rear wheel and clean up the brake shoes and drum..maybe deglaze the pads or inside of drum as needed? I believe the exhaust has to come off to do this...but does this type of work (cleaning, etc.) usually take care of the scooter rear drum squeal?

Generally, it does. That scoot really have a rear drum brake? Just checked the specs: definitely drum!

yep, they still used a drum on this model...the front caliper sure was a lot easier to clean up and lube...gonna take a little work to get to the back drum...
