Title: Fuse inspection
Post by: CROSSBOLT on November 13, 2016, 08:18:38 PM
Have to retrain myself periodically. 12 volt problem on a pop-up camper trailer: power converter (120 vac to 12 vdc) not charging battery. All other circuits nominal (OK). First place to check is fuses, easiest and quickest. All fuses good. Then voltage checks showed all circuits at 13.5 volts dc EXCEPT the one going to the battery and it was 12.6 vdc. Re-examined that fuse. Visual OK. Continuity not OK, open/blown. Closer visual revealed the break in fuse element was right at the blade and NOT in the center! These fuses are the same style in the DT300i, People GTi300 and the Yager. Visual check to start but BACK THAT UP IMMEDIATELY WITH OHMMETER CHECK.
