People 50 2 stroke. Starts and runs good, but I have a serious dimming of the headlight when touch the brake. Turn signals will cause headlight to pulse, until I apply brakes . Alternator unit, so headlight doesn't come on untill the engine is running. I think that's because it gets its power from the alternator, not the battery. The battery has plenty of power. So, any ideas why it's sucking power from my headlight?
Thanks
Mark

My experience with Kymco Super 9, People 50, Super 8 150 they all have weak electrical system for headlights. I don't recall so much when braking or using turn signals, but at night, if you stop at red light for example, the headlight will noticeably dims at idle.

Since it does get its power from the alternator, I would expect it ti dim at lower RPMs. But I can be at high RPM and it does it.

OK, I don't think any of mine dim headlight brightness except at idle. So, I guess you have an issue. Sorry, I am slow on electrical problems. Good luck.

its a stator not an alternator and my Like 50 dimmed when I applied brakes but I have LED headlight now and I don't notice. Also the Like 50 lights come on as soon as key is in start position so they run off DC I guess yours run off AC.

its a stator not an alternator
The stator is only one part of an alternator, sometimes referred to as an AC generator. AC of course stands for alternating current. The picture is an automotive alternator, but they work exactly the same. The important parts are the rotor, and the stator, both of which are in the alternator on my scooter. I mentioned in the first post it was an AC unit.

the stator stands by itself the rotor is part of the crank it is not an alternator and if you went to a reputable scooter shop they would politely I'm sure tell you scooters do not have alternators. . . .

OK, I did a test and I am changing my story. Rode Super 9 the other night and it definitely dims headlights when I apply the brakes above idle rpms. I think normal behavior. Cheers
