Title: Anyone using fake rear camera?
Post by: Stig / Major Tom on November 02, 2016, 11:16:52 PM
Anyone recommend a small fake go pro, or otherwise dummy video camera with red light to install rear-facing on scooter?

Was kicking this idea around in my helmet after having one too many aggressive tail-gaiters today.
Ideas?

Why fake?

Buy one that loops, when you really need it a fake won't give it to you. I have wanted to do this in my cars but not spent the time searching for one. I looked up the one advertised on TV late nights but it is riddled with reliability issues.

My Drift Camara has a looping feature but I think it needs to be plugged into a charger to do so. I agree, get the real thing. Plus once you start shooting nice footage it become addicting. I'm in the process of editing the footage when I went out to see De Dee last month. Hope to post a draft soon.

started using a dash cam in the family car a few months ago...went to Amazon and found a reasonably priced, highly rated one. It takes a 180 degree, HD pic in continuous 3 min loops. I think it records about 6 hours or so before it starts recording over the earlier loops..actually thought about adding one in the back, too, but with the deep tint in the back I'm not sure how clear the video would be...

It's really just a response to the times we live in when many accidents can become a he said-she said affair...with video proof I am covered. Very happy with the unit..it's a Falcon (?) something...wife has the car now so can't check...

there are lots of riders who never leave home without their go pro filming...probably a good idea

Funny you mentioned this, I've just install one two days ago, here is what I used:

see if you can find it in your local walmart.  For $15 dollars, it's a cheap insurance LOL

locks up couple of times, but I just check it before I ride.

I thin the price has dropped by $10 or $20 since I bought mine?...very satisfied with it so far..
