Bought at an auction after it was wrecked. Put a battery and gas in it but won't start. Is there someone of emergency shutoff that was tripped that I can reset?
-
There is a switch that shuts it off if it tips over. But that one should automatically reset once it's turned back upright. It may be damaged
-
When you push starter button what exactly does it do?
Red switch is emergency shut off. ..try switch.

I put up stand, hold brake levers, push start and it tried to start but just keeps cranking.

Look closely at the kickstand switch. I know that if it THINKS the kickstand is down, it will spin with no start. Also look for wires that may have gotten knocked loose or pinched during the accident.
-
I know it is obvious but I have to ask. Did you put the kill switch in the On position? I forget this all the time!
-
Yes, kill switch is in correct position and the indicator showing when the kickstand is down goes off when I put it up, so I thi k it is working.
The oil light is on...is it supposed to be? I've checked the level and it's where it should be.

Perhaps the brake circuit. Try holding the other side brake when starting. Also, I have had issues with the side stand switch, even though the indicator light showed it was off, it still needed a little turn on its axis before retightening, so that all the connections make contact at the stand Up position.

The oil light will be on unless the engine is running.
Is the check engine light on? It should be with the key on and engine not running. If it isn't, then the pcm may not be getting power.
