Will your gloves stay on your hands if you have a big "off" ?
When I started out riding again - I figured to be safe by buying some genuine leather gloves.
Then I noticed how easy they were to remove.
Things happen quickly during a motorcycle wreck....the extremities are being flung hard about as you are airborne.
The idea of gloves on the hands of a scooter rider is that they will protect the flesh of your hands as you, eventually, come back to Earth & make sliding contact with the pavement. You want the leather to take the erasing - not your skin.
But if the gloves are flung off of my hands during all of this flipping about......
You get the picture. So I purchased leather gloves that have velcro wrist straps which firmly secure the gloves on my hands - making it really, really hard to get them off without undoing the velcro wrist straps.
Give your gloves a good yank - here's hoping you can't get them off.

PS: Sneakers don't stand a prayer of staying on your feet either, during an off.
PPS: closeouts are going on sale now - you needn't spend a fortune for good gloves or some high-top Wal-Mart work boots

I like my hands. I wear long gloves with velcro to secure them at the wrist and above the wrist. Also hard knuckle protection. I've already broken way too many fingers and knuckles from growing up on a ranch. I used to ride dirt bikes and your hands will always hit something hard if you go off the bike. My hands will come off before the gloves do.

Velcro riding gloves are the way to go. Both summer and winter styles. If possible have a passenger wear some Kind of protection too. My wife is resistant during the summer, but wears them in the Fall and Winter.

I have gauntlet style insulated waterproof gloves for the winter and and shorter breathable leather and carbon fiber padded gloves for the summer both have velcro closures to be sure.

I have Mechanic Wear M-Pact 3 gloves and those famous Walmart boots (figured it was better than tennis shoes).

I always wear a helmet, open face or full face. Depends on how hot it is. Wear leather gloves with extra leather patches on the knuckles other wear spots, Velcro strapped. I wear leather high top hiking boots from wallyworld. I have an armored jacket and pants but only wear those when it's 40/50ish outside.
