Title: Tips and details on replacing the coolant in a GT300i?
Post by: coolpeople on July 01, 2016, 04:16:57 PM
I inspected my coolant levels today. Nothing in the reserve reservoir. No coolant visible when removing the radiator cap. Could there be a leak? Or did the Kymco dealership simply overlook the coolant in their inspection they did a few months ago? Anyway...I'd like to replace the coolant and then monitor the levels for leaks.

Has anyone on the forum replaced their GT300i coolant? What is the capacity of the system? How much coolant do you need when replacing? Tips on flushing the system? Tips on bleeding air from the system? The service manual seems to provide a fairly detailed description, but I want to make sure I don't miss anything. I'd like to get it right the first time.

I read on the forum that Pro Honda HP coolant is a good choice. There's a Honda bike dealer up the road selling it for $31.80/gal.

Thanks guys.

Yes, there's a bleeder screw. Can that step in the process, the opening of the bleeder screw, be omitted? Have to take the seat off for that.

Here's the video I made. The coolant change was very successful.

Good video. On my Helix, I put my Shop Vac hose on the reservoir and blow the coolant out of the system from there through the drain hole. No need to suck the coolant out and it ensures better emptying. Just dont be standing next to the drain hole, juss sayin'.
