Title: Best oil to use for '13 50cc 2t?
Post by: crave on June 27, 2016, 05:21:22 PM
I'm pretty new to scooters so,
What would be the best engine oil and CVT oil to put in?
ODO: 228 miles.
50cc 2-stroke

I just picked this up last weekend and saw that the maintenance schedule required for this to be changed.

Hey man, congrats on the New kymco. I have the same ride........ For the first 500 - 700 miles I would NOT use any type of Synthetic or semi synthetic. Use regular tcw 3  2 Cycle  oils, castor oils's. After 700 delicate miles switch to a higher end SEMI SYNTHETIC or FULL SYNTHETIC 2 stroke oil. I regularly use Lucas LOW ASH Semi Synthetic 2 cycle oil. It is cheap, and works good. Their is no CVT oil per say, just gear oil hidden behind your cvt's casing that you shouldn't have to worry about yet. If you have the 2t KYMCO their is no other engine oil than the reservoir under the seat that you fill with 2 stroke oil. It is not like the regular 4 stroke's in that their is no oil lubing the crank that you must maintain. As long as your not buying oil from family Dollar name brand doesnt make a huge huge deal, just watch for Synthetic or not

I run Castrol Power RS full synthetic in my 2013 Kymco 50cc and run Castrol gear oil in CVT I may be switching to Royal purple for 2T oil found a gallon of it on Amazon for $40 with free shipping on orders over 50.
