Title: User manual and specifications on bike different (Transmission Oil capacity)
Post by: juancuesta on April 14, 2016, 12:33:12 PM
Hello everyone,

I have a question , in the user manual of Kymco Xciting 250 2012 specifies that the amount of gear oil should be 0,18L.
However, when I changed the oil I realized that ther's an indication on the bike saying otherwise 0,23l.This indication is right next to the drain bolt and its on the metal itself.

Why those two things are different? what should I do?

I would personally fill it up until it starts overflowing from the filler hole. Then you know it is full, job done.

NO, no, don't do that! So far most all Kymco scoots have a specific amount to put in each gearbox and it is ALWAYS way less than the fill hole. I, from experience with my first Kymco, filled to the fill hole. That Agility 50 had an immediate, massive oil leak! Juan brings a real point about Kymco manuals: many mistakes and conflicts. Here is a suggestion: Use .23 L and if you wind up with an oil mess, wash it off and use .18 L. Not trying to be a wiseguy, really! Maybe someone who has experience with this model will educate us all.

I'm not sure about the Agility. But You can fill the Xciting 250 to the fill hole. That's how it was filled by the dealership. I found out when I drained mine. But when you fill it, let any overflow drain for SEVERAL minutes until it completely stops. That way, you'll have no leaks

When I filled it that way, I think I had used between 6 and 7 ounces which is between .18 and .21 liters.

Got it! Ill open the "in screw" to make sure that there's not overfill! Thanks!
