Hi, Well it has been in storage for 3 years and now the battery is totally dead. I tried a 12v battery on the power port but just the seat unlatching seems to have blown that fuse as well. I am left with no way to lift the seat I can see or find anywhere on the web, is there another way?
Thanks Andy N.

This is a Downtown, right? The seat latch is mechanical not electrical. Insert key and turn to left and seat should unlatch. Same for People GTi300.

Yeah, I thought so too but there is like no give there. I don't remember there being one either. I tried just now, using pliers, to twist the key with a bit more torque but to still no avail. Can't seem to find my WD40 either.
Edit; Found the WD40, I now can feel the key try and tension the cable but to no avail. I looked at the service manual and can see how it all works now.

Ah! Key won't trip the latch. Happened to me recently away from house and in a Wal-mart park lot! Turn handlebars to left; get on right side of machine; look up at back of ignition switch assembly and locate cable housing perpendicular to centerline of switch; grasp in strong hand and try to pull in line with natural direction of cable (before you grabbed it). This should release the latches. Repeat until latches release. I had to pull several times to get cable to "free up" so release was possible. Hope that works! I would not work to much with pliers on the key since Murphy sez the key will break!

Thanks, will give it a go. Tried the pliers but affraid of Murphy so I can't tug with too much torque.
Edit; I'll have to have my son-n-law give it a go. I gave it a good tug but I am recovering from a heart attack and double bypass so I do not have any real strength yet. Sucks not having it all back yet. :(

Last night he pulled the cable. It let a bit of play out and released the right rear clip but the left rear is still stuck.will try some moe today.

don't close the seat until you adjust the cables, close the locks with a nail or screw driver,. and clean the cables so they move easy, so it will be easy to do it with the key, both locks have to unlock at the same time,. have fun and a good day,.

Yeah, thanks. I have to change the battery too. So with the tub out I plan to also get in and place a heavy battery connection that will alow a jump start and charging as well. Once opened up it will be easier to free the cabling system.

FOR THE BATTERY WIRES I GOT a two plug ( same as trailer plugs 4 pluger drilled a hole just below the battery, and it comes out over the inner wheel fender, so it stays almost clean, the one I got had a end cap on a string, keeps the plug clean, you find them in the trailer department, at auto part store,.

It opened up, begrudgingly. I adjusted the cables and it will pop open with the ket if twisted with pliers. My hands arer not strong enough. It also started after a bit if turning over.
