Hey all,
I'm going to be ordering a non- restricted variator bushing for my 2010 Agility this week, and I'd like to go ahead and replace the stock rollers with some lighter ones while I've got the variator loose.
As much as I'd like to buy rollers, stiffer fly springs, and a stiffer contra spring all at once, I'm so broke I can barely pay attention, and I'm going to have to do this in stages. I've already derestricted the rev limiter by cutting the CDI and gained 4-5 mph with that mod...
Will replacing the stock rollers with a lighter set (say, 5 grams) improve acceleration without the stiffer springs... or would I see more of a gain leaving the stock rollers alone for now and replacing the springs instead? Any thoughts?
Thanks!

I tried the 5g first and i saw definite increase in acceleration. Some will say 4.7g is good too, but i havent tried that personally. Have not done anything with the springs yet, they're in the mail.

Thanks, Shubonker. Real-world experience is exactly what I was looking for.
I saw a picture of your scooter in the showroom in another thread... Looks just like mine- Blue!
-
Haha, blue is the best. Or all black would be cool too.
Also, what you want to do is change to a free flow air filter as well as a bigger main jet size where it wouldn't run lean. That's my next upgrade once i get the new springs installed. Then i plan to put an aftermarket exhaust on there for even more power. All of which should give better acceleration and top speed.

..4.7 gr rollers work awesomely in my scoot..
..you also want to de-restrict your cdi, which limits your scoot to 7000 rpms...
..the cdi de-restriction is FREEE!!!...
..post a pic of your cdi unit, or tell us the colors of the wires going into it's connector...
peace

...wait...you already did that...
...duh-me!!!

Thanks Slinger, I've already cut the CDI... Transmission mods are next, then carb/exhaust mods to finish it off.
I got a 50cc scooter out of necessity, and I didn't really expect too much out of it,, but the damn thing is actually FUN, I have to admit. It has better ride quality than I expected and even though it isn't very fast, I can modify it to keep up easily with city traffic, which is all I really need it to do.
I never considered the fun factor when I bought it. Riding it, modifying it, and tuning it to go faster- so far, it's just been a blast, and this forum has made it even better. I can't put a price on the wealth of information here, and it's cool that everyone seems so happy to help out!

...if you want some quicker acceleration, then change your contra spring next...
..when i installed my malossi variator (which is SHOT now), it came with a 1000 rpm contra spring...
..i didn't install it at first, as i had no tool for the job...
..once i made the tool and installed the spring, there was a marked improvement in overall performance...

...that's pretty much the path i took...

..same here brother...i hadda get a 49.5 due to a dwi...
..i could have gotten my d/l back in november of '09...

Sorry to hear that, man. Admittedly, it could have been me on many a night.
I let my insurance lapse, then got caught driving without it. Now I have to maintain SR-22, even though I sold my car. Additionally, I owe about a grand in personal property taxes on a new Accord I had back in 2003 (plus fines and penalties). To make a long story short, it would cost me more money than I currently have just to keep an old beater on the road, so I decided to ride a scooter for a while.
It can't be taken away (paid in full), I don't have to insure it, and I don't need a license to drive it. And did I mention that it's FUN?
What do you do when it rains? Do you have rain gear?
-
..i have a bit of rain gear, but usually i just get wet....

..ur either in NC or CT...
..lol...

That 1000 contra spring sounds good, I am waiting for mine to turn up (read, the check is in the mail), it might be my missing link.
