I'm removing some of the body panels to replace the sparkplug and adjust the valves. My shop manual isn't very accurate on where and what bolts to remove. These panels are a pain! Any tips before I go crazy? >:(
-
Urbestfriend just did the sparkplug. The black vertical Panel just at the rear of the
foot rest area is the one. Pull up the rubber mat, I think there is 2 screws in the floor.
Now inside the seat box at the hinge, look for a large (green?) headed screw. This releases
the panel at the top. There may be 2 more screws...Just look for them, the big one is
the one you wouldn't think about. I recall the plug was on the left front of the engine.
Not sure about the valves.
One thing about Kymco's....The panels are easier to remove and all have an access panel
to the top of the carb.

Thanks Wordslinger...Just haven't had much to say lately. Usually
follow the Grandvista and Xciting 250 comments, but they've been
few and far between. Usually are in Winter and early Spring.

Hi, I have a 2009 Grandvista and would like to change the spark plug. I am stumped as to how to gain access to it. I know I need to remove the center body panel and to do that start by removing the two screws under the rubber floor mat. Where do I go from there? Thanks

Hey Kenl, Welcome aboard. Look under the General section of the forum, and in the thread "Links to service manuals" You will find yours listed in there. One of the GV owners will answer you better I'm sure.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I haven't read a book in a long time now, too much fun here.
There are a few I want to read and they are available now, maybe sometime. :)

I removed the center panel but the spark plug is still very hard to access. Am I missing something?

Probably not norcal. Some times the common sense way is nowhere to be found. It takes me about 10 minutes to pull all the plastics of my scoot, and I will do it every time I service it. It's easier to work/clean. You' ll find a system that suits you.

..so far, i've been able to do everything i needed to do by removing only the MET-IN...whatever that means...
