Title: Wheel Balancing
Post by: sidthesloth on May 21, 2010, 12:09:39 PM: G'day all, yesterday I asked the local bike shop about balancing a scooter wheel, when I mentioned it being the rear wheel they said "no, we don't do them", it seems that they don't have a jig set up for it. I went to our local bearing supplier today to see about a couple of bearings to put in the wheel to balance it at home and it seems that 18 mm bearings are not a common size. After a couple of phone calls he managed to find that they may be available, will find out on Monday. For now I bought two 17mm bearings and set the wheel up to balance it with some stick on weights that I got from a tyre fitting shop. It took a little time and was an interesting endevour. So, to sum up, I won't be paying anyone to balance my scooter wheels again. :D

Post by: CROSSBOLT on May 23, 2010, 01:18:29 AM: Save yourself some real grief and get some Dyna Beads and dump 'em in the valve stems. One ounce per wheel did nicely for me. Google dynabeads and there ya are! About 3.50 for each one ounce bag.
