Post by: wordslinger on May 19, 2010, 10:51:10 PM

Mines approx. 15 km/day. :-[

I think I spend more time messing with it than riding it. . . as I sit here in my office looking at my engine! ;D

Trying to fix the air leak so I can mount it back on the frame.  It's all ported and purdy on the inside now though!  Besides big thunderstorm passing through anyways!

I spend about 6 hours with the die-grinder last night cleaning the transfer tunnels and matching everything up!  Got it all back together last night at 3 am. . . hooked up the leak-down tester. . . major air leak from between the jug and case!  At any rate I said F it and went to sleep!  We'll see how she goes in a few.

Zombie-  I ended up with the 1.6 mm spacer at the base and no head gasket.  Seems to have way better bottom-end and mid-range, doesn't seem to have done much on the top.  However it did raise my rpm's through the entire range a few hundred.  I just put new rings in as well.  Now I'm hoping it really screams with the inside work done!

Correction the leak is at the intake manifold - crankcase joint right next to the cylinder.  Here's to round two of trying to seal it!  I'm gonna let it try for awhile before I put it under pressure again! ;)

Dang, I'm glad I build that leak-down tester!  I think it has officially saved my engine from certain doom!  I got the major leak at the intake manifold sorted only to find another pretty large leak from my oil pump plug!  I should be all good now, been holding 6 psi for about 10 mins with no loss at all!  Yay!  Time to button it all back up and reunite her with her frame!

I usually average about 18 ti 20 thousand miles a year on my bike, I dont know how that breaks down to km per day, but it must be a bunch.  This year my milage is going to be greatly reduced due the the broken leg, but I only went about 3 weeks  of total off time before I was back on the scoot. The only thing is now I am only riding for essential things , no pleasure riding at all. It is just too much effort to get ready to ride when you are on crutches. It takes me almost an hour to get ready to ride now. BUT its getting better, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and I dont think its a train coming. Curt

In the past ten years it used to be around 9.000 kms/year.
In the past 6 months after I bought a car, around 4.500 kms/year.

Gf`s Agility, around 7.000 kms/year, but we often ride on a single scooter (or in a car...)

I've been back riding now for about 4 weeks. The leg is in a boot and just sits on the floorboards and the crutches bunjy on the bsack of the seat. When one has no car, one has to improvise.  The break is due to not fully respecting a stepladder.   I led a rte this afternoon for about 75 miles. it was good to get the cobwebs blown out of my head. It was also the first time since the break that I have ridden for pleasure. Curt

I was averaging 56km a day until I pulled it down for the upgrade. My average is falling rapidly, and have been off the road for nearly a month now. It sucks as just this week there have been total white out frosts, so its not going to be fun at 5am when I do get it on the road again.....But damn I miss it!
