Title: Windscreen upgrade
Post by: rick71 on May 01, 2010, 06:00:13 PM
My X500 has the standard "sporty" windscreen. Does anyone know if the standard clear windscreen from 2-ish years ago will bolt on?

I want something a little taller, but not as tall as the Givi.

How much taller is the original windscreen compared to the R?

Just install the mounting hardware loosely until you get it in position. Then tighten it all down evenly. easy job.

Well... everyone was right, the standard clear windshield will bolt right up on the 500ri...

-IF- you have the tools, the goo, and know what you're doing. I don't. I ended up with a stripped bolt. One of the 4 the holds the windshield. So, I have 3 of those and the 4 that go through the trim holding the windshield on. Hopefully,  it will hold will I drive it up to the shop for them to tell me what I have to buy to fix everything. IF they'll be able to look at the bike.

On a brighter note (yes, there is one)... it does look good on the scoot. Really good.

diffrent country, whats nice about my mirrors is that you can always check on your fist and bar ends LOL! the 250cc version here have the mirrors on the handle bars, will convert it as soon as the parts arrive.

one thing i abserved yesterday there is a gap on the plastic thingy and the R wind shield not sure thou if there would be problem switching from  R wind shield to the taller one. will post some pics tom.

sure miss the protection of the taller wind screen!

I like the standard windscreen I got, but it is slightly bowed out on the bottom right, which makes the snap-in black plastic frame separate.  The guys are going to take a look at what is wrong when I get my top case installed.
